PBL Earthquake Project

Driving Qt: How can we, as structural engineers, construct a two-story house in California for Tony Stark that will withstand seismic activity?

In this project, we made a house that was for "Tony Stark", because (pretend that he wanted a new house in California). We first plotted the location of our house in California where there was a low chance of earthquakes. We then formed in groups. We each drew two models of our house, and we choose the best one. Then we get supplies - sticky material, popsicle straws, and more. Using them, we have around two weeks to finish our project, and test it if it can withstand shaking. We also write a script which has questions about the project. With the script, we make a video.

I liked making the video. I also liked making the slides decorative, and educational. I think the 30 hands project was creative and fun. We used pic collage to make slides about global warming, and other topics. We then make a video with a background of us reading our script about the information in each slide.

Invention Convention

The invention convention was a project where we had to bring in trash, and use it to make an invention or innovation that supports the enviroment in one or more ways. I think this was my favorite project.

What did we do?

We had to make a model of an invention or innovation that will solve a problem in the world. My group made a machine that converts food waste into energy. The problem we solved is that we can reduce the amount of trash in landfills and produce more power at the same time.

What was my favorite project?

It was the invention convention because we got to think of an real idea that can help everyone, and making the model was fun.
