Hello Friends!

Everything we all enjoy about the much anticipated warm weather! I hope you all have fun plans for the summer with family and friends! I know I am looking forward to more baseball, boating and a couple of short trips with my family. May your summer be filled with good times and great memories!

So, let's dig in! In the spirit of summer, I'd like to focus on sun protection. I LOVE the sun! Yet, I know getting too much isn't good. I am one of the lucky ones that tends to tan easily, but I still need sunscreen. Choosing an effective and safe sunscreen can be tricky. Read on for some great sun safety tips! Enjoy your summer everyone!

Here are a few tips on sunscreen safety from EWG:

Don’t fall for high SPF labels. Anything higher than SPF 50+ can tempt you to stay in the sun too long. Even if you don’t burn, your skin may be damaged. Stick to SPFs between 15 and 50. Pick a product based on your own skin coloration, time outside, shade and cloud cover. Reapply often.
Avoid sunscreen with vitamin A. Eating vitamin A-laden vegetables is good for you, but spreading vitamin A on your skin may not be. Government data show that tumors and lesions develop sooner on skin coated with creams laced with vitamin A, also called retinyl palmitate or retinol. It’s in 20 percent of all sunscreens they reviewed in 2015. Avoid any skin or lip product whose label includes retinyl palmitate, retinol or vitamin A.

Avoid oxybenzone. A synthetic estrogen that penetrates the skin and can disrupt the hormone system. Look for products with zinc oxide, 3% avobenzone or Mexoryl SX. They protect skin from harmful UVA radiation.

Below is a link to EWG's sunscreen safety guide. We love seeing our sunscreen products featured in Environmental Working Group's annual ‪#‎sunsafety‬ report.

I wanted to communicate that we are transitioning to new packaging and product names. The simple design of the new packaging, in navy—a color Founder and CEO, Gregg Renfrew has always loved—reflects both a classic feel and a modern edge. It’s important to note that the changes are purely cosmetic. While you may receive a mix of current and new packaging for the next couple of months, the products and formulas are still the ones that you know and love. Please note that Collection orders will be fulfilled with consistent packaging, so that all products match. Below is a peek at the new packaging!

A couple of weeks ago, we created quite the buzz on Capitol Hill as we asked our leaders for better beauty laws. 100 Consultants. 50 States. 90 Meetings. Below is a small peek at the enormous work we did on Capitol Hill advocating for new, public health protective laws that will ensure all products are safer for future generations. WE are making a difference. Please join our movement and help us get safer products into the hands of everyone.
