Getting Back Into The Swing Of Things!
"After watching the I Love Lucy clip, what ideas can you connect to getting back in the swing of things in the new year? What do you think will be easy about coming back to school? What will require some more work on your part?"
Now if you watch the clip, you'll see that Lucy and Ethel have the task of wrapping chocolates as they move along the conveyor belt, and both women feel pretty good about the work they are doing at first. But, they soon quickly (and quite humorously) discover that the conveyor belt speeds up, and they find themselves scrambling to stay on top of the task at hand! This is where I would make the connection to students coming back to school from winter break, and feeling pretty good about things at first. They get to catch up with their friends and teachers, and talk about everything that happened over break. BUT! They soon quickly remember they only have a few weeks left in the marking period, they have to pull their grades up, and mid-year exams are right around the corner! And all of this can feel quite overwhelming!
No worries! In the same spirit of the comedy clip below, find the light and humor in these challenging times, and just like I sing on the announcements every morning, "P is for polite and positivity, A is for accept responsibility, W work hard, S safety first! Come on Jaguars now let’s get to work!"
If My Student Is Absent, What Is The Best Way To Seek Out Make Up Work?
In order to seek make up work from an absence, a student should first look to see what work is posted in their courses in Schoology, and if they still have questions, please reach out to their teachers via email!
At LMS, We Use Schoology!
Schoology is the Learning Management System being used by SMCPS. Schoology provides students with personalized learning experiences. It allows students to keep resources and school materials available to access online, at any time. It also provides students with the opportunity to engage in their classes no matter where their learning is taking place.
In the 2022-23 school year, Schoology will be used as a teacher's gradebook and will be the one-stop-shop to access assignments and content being taught within the classroom.
Make sure that you've made checking Schoology a part of your daily routine!
