North Forney High School Monthly Newsletter - October 2019
New month. New season. Same #excellence.
Maintaining The Momentum
As we begin the fall season, we expect leaves to change, weather to cool and days to grow shorter. However, the #trueNorth expectation for #excellence will remain the same. Throughout September, we saw athletic dominance, engaging classroom activities and student leadership soar. We anticipate the same standard of success in the following month. With Homecoming, Fall Break and the start of a new grading period in the near future, these changes will motivate our drive to proudly represent #trueNorth. So as we embark on change, let's maintain our momentum for #excellence.

A Word From Principal Jung
Falcon Nation,
Fall break is just around the corner! Can you believe it?
All of our students and staff have been working super hard to make this the best year yet at North Forney High School! I am pleased with the instruction and the level of engagement I am seeing in classrooms. As Coach Jackson says, "We want to be 1% better each day." I am seeing that commitment from our students and staff.
Homecoming is this upcoming week. I do ask that our entire Falcon Nation participate in the festivities(parade, community pep rally, and homecoming game). Our school is stronger when our community comes together to celebrate these moments as a family. Remember, #trueNorth is about #empowering one another. You being there to support our school encourages us to keep the positive momentum going.
I hope everyone has a restful fall break and comes back recharged, refocused, and ready to hit the ground running.
Michael Jung
Proud Principal of NFHS

- FASFA, the method all colleges use to reward money for continuing education, is open for seniors. To best prepare, parents and students should obtain a FSA ID. Directions in doing so can be found in this FSA ID How To. To help with the financial aid process, we will be hosting a Financial Aid Night on Monday, Oct. 7 at 6 p.m. in the NFHS library.
- Don't forget that the PSAT is Wednesday, Oct. 30. To register, please fill out this Google Form, which is also available on our school website, by Monday, Oct. 7. Please complete the form in its entirety, and note that registration will not be completed until Ms. Smith has received the test payment in full. We ask that students bring the $20 payment in cash (we do not accept credit cards or checks) to Ms. Smith. Payments and registration will no longer be accepted after Oct. 7.
- It's never too early to start planning on how to pay for college! Juniors and seniors, we suggest devoting some time to search for scholarships. And we are here to help. Let these search engines be your guide in beginning your scholarship search.

Forney ISD 2019 Bond
With Forney ISD expected to grow by more than 8,500 students by 2029 – an increase of over 70 percent – the Forney ISD Board of Trustees and District administrators commissioned an Innovative School Facilities Planning Committee to develop a comprehensive bond package to help us better manage this rapid growth.
Their work led the Innovative School Facilities Planning Committee to recommend a comprehensive $623 million bond package to prepare Forney ISD for our fast growth in student enrollment. The Forney ISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved this recommendation May 29. Voters in the district can vote for the bond Tuesday, November 5.

Our officers have been working on this proclamation project in partnership with the mayor's office since June.
Preparing Our Future
Ms. Pennington's Health Science students took time out of their school day to visit with and teach Forney ISD kindergartner's about the importance of hand washing!
Creation Through Collaboration
NFHS FFA officers attended the first district meeting of the school year. The officers participated in discussions on aligning the district FFA Constitution with the Texas FFA Constitution, as well as collaborated with other FFA members through communication games and exercises.

Lady Falcons Defeat in Five Sets
On Sept. 20, the NF Lady Falcons beat the Forney Jackrabbits with a final score of 15-11. The back-and-forth battle ended with a NF victory and many notable performances. To name a few, Arissa Givens, sophomore, had 24 assists, Karsyn Hunter, sophomore, had 36 digs, and Kennedy Cline, junior, had 22 kills.
Green Monster Produces Multiple PR's
The Burleson Centennial High School Spartan Invitational is known as the "Home of the Green Monster," and our NF Cross Country team took on the challenge with pride.
