Boys Hope Girls Hope of Detroit Mission
Letter from our Executive Director, Rebecca Limbaugh
Thank you for visiting our new and improved newsletter produced by our Scholars and dedicated Team Members. Enclosed, you'll find a glimpse of the exciting experiences and incredible opportunities we are able to share with our Scholars and their families, as well as invitations to our upcoming events.
If any part of this publication inspires you, I ask that you reach out and let us guide you on how you can support our Scholars and Mission. We cannot do this life-changing work without the generous support we receive from readers just like you. Your support sends phenomenal young women, like Rayanna, (who you'll read about below) to college and fulfill her dreams of becoming an educator.
A very special thank you to Dan Laible, our board chair, Board of Directors, Donors, and Community Partners.
With Sincere Gratitude,
Ms. Rebecca Limbaugh

Featured Team Member and Scholar
Ms. Stacey Cruse
When asked why she felt compelled to volunteer, she said, "I grew up in a true middle class upbringing. I had been privileged in my life and felt like it was time to give back".
After several years of supporting behind the scenes, in August of 2021 she was hired as a part-time Residential Counselor and as of February of 2023 Ms. Stacey was promoted to Business Manager. Her favorite part of the program is spending time with Scholars on the weekends. "My favorite memory is the first Christmas I spent in the program and watching them celebrate the holiday. They gifted me a beautiful handmade mug I still have today. I just love watching the girls have a good time."
Thank you to Ms. Stacey for her dedication and outstanding commitment to serving the mission and our Scholars for 8 years as a volunteer and a team member. You're a phenomenal woman and we appreciate your service!
Senior Hope House Scholar, Rayanna Beal
Rayanna is a graduating senior at Renaissance High School but this was the first year she was able to have in-person classes due to the pandemic. She has found herself blossoming in unexpected ways, describing her previous self as shy, and extremely quiet. We have witnessed this change with joy and admiration.
Rayanna will be working at The Yunion this summer. In the fall, she will be attending Grand Valley State University where she has earned a full ride scholarship ready to major in education and minor in business. Her dedication to others and love for her younger relatives has inspired her to become, in her words “The kind of teacher that people know loves their job and is happy to be there, one willing to share with all people, of all ages, everything she knows”.
We are excited to support Rayanna in this next season of her life and look forward to watching all that she becomes as she continues to blossom.
If you are interested in helping Rayanna stock her dorm and support her in college, please email London Johnson, Collegian Support Manager ljohnson@bhgh.org for more information.
