Well, We Did It...Almost
Isn't the warm weather lovely? I never think the sunny days will come, and then suddenly they do. All at once the trees are green and the days are long, and then I remember that school is almost out, and that actually makes me very very sad. Every. Single. Year.
It always seems to go by so fast, and these kids just keep growing. You wouldn't believe how independent and confident in the classroom each of them are. It's hard to remember what they were like just 9 months ago, because when they're this age they change so much from day to day it seems.
I'm slowly coming to terms with the fact that I'll have to say goodbye to the older preschoolers as they get ready for Kindergarten, and you know what? They're all really ready. They know so much, and are so eager to get on to the next step that they are almost done with me...almost. Since I get them for one more month I'll do what I always seem to do- pull out all of my coolest, messiest, wildest tricks that I have up my sleave and send them off in style. May gets a little crazy at preschool, but what better way to end a year?

PRESCHOOL PARK DAY For MWF Class CANCELLED...again
I put it on the snack calendar for this coming Friday (May 8th), but the weather assures me there'll be rain. We'll try one more time this month, but I'm opting to wait until a week where the weather is sunny. I'll send out an email and text to let parent's know.
Event Information
Preschool House End Of Year Ice Cream Social
We'll be celebrating the end of the year with a casual ice cream social. I'll bring the ice cream, bowls, and spoons, you bring your favorite ice cream topping. We'll also have a short (short) program to recognize all of our preschoolers who worked so hard this year. We may even sing a song or two. The whole family is invited.
When?
Thursday, Jun 4, 2015, 06:30 PM
Where?
Bear Creek Park, South Stoddard Road, Meridian, ID, United States
Preschool Pajama Party
On Thursday May 14th (T/TH Class) and Friday May 15th (MWF Class). Preschoolers are encouraged to come in their pajamas and with a blanket and pillow if they want. Along with some fun pajama party center choices we'll put on a movie too. It's going to be a fun day.
Snack Calendar Mix Up
There's like five mistakes on it, but the biggest one is I put the No School Day for Memorial Day in the wrong place! We will have school on June 1st, and we will have No School on May 25th. Happy Memorial Day everyone! Our last days of school will be June 4th for our T/TH class and June 5th for our MWF class.
2015/2016 Registration
My MWF class is all full, but I still have 2 spots in my TTH class. I like you, and I'm sure I'll like your friends, so give them my contact info if they're looking for a preschool with a barefoot teacher and a disorderly front lawn.
We Had Fun In April. Take A Look!
Heads Up
The best part of this picture is what you can't see: the 6 kids on the floor next to him digging through the Lego box wondering why there are no heads for the mini figs.
All By Myself
Projects get progressively more independent around here. By the end of the year the preschoolers have mastered all materials in our classroom and are free to get out and use anything they want. It makes for some interesting and unique creations.
Getting Brave
Our littlest preschoolers are hesitant to try most things at the beginning of the year. By the end I'm so proud of how eager they are to participate in everything. This guy is getting his hair done- complete with a spray bottle shower.
Big Play Small Space
Gross motor is an important part of early development, but hard to do in a small space. We fit it in lots of ways. Here, cut up pool noodles, rope, and a free pass to throw them around as much as they want creates a perfect activity.
Big Play Small Space II
Here's another way we get creative with limited space. Tables and chairs are often pushed to the side to create a large open area, and sometimes they get rearranged for activities like this obstacle course.
Shop Girl
Have I ever mentioned how in to commerce we are around here? We buy and sell almost anything you can think of during free play. This day it was a pet shop.
Baby Birds
This kiddie pool became a birds nest for the week. These guys "hatched" from blankets over and over and over and over.
Group Effort
Look how proud these kids are. It's great to see them build something amazing on their own, but even better when they all work together!
Sharp Focus
I pulled out the melty beads a few weeks ago and was excited to see how engaged the preschoolers got in this hard, fine motor activity. So much concentration goes in to completing one of these. Nice work.
