November Boomerang Award
This year, Gayman will continue to accept nominations for the Boomerang Award, which is our way of honoring students who best demonstrate their own developmental assets. What are Developmental Assets? Students possessing a combination of “40 Assets” are typically most successful in school and in life. These assets have the power to influence choices young people make and help them become caring, responsible adults. For a complete listing of the 40 Developmental Assets visit: www. Search-institute.org.
November #30. Responsibility. Young person accepts and takes personal responsibility for his/her behavior. Young person accepts and takes personal responsibility for their actions and decisions at home, and/or at school, and/or in the community.

Gayman Students And Staff Show Their Spirit
On Monday, November 10th, Gayman conducted its first spirit assembly. The spirit committee was formed at Gayman, as a reward for striving to follow our four themes on a daily basis: Responsibility, Sportsmanship, Cooperation, and Respect. We began the assembly by recognizing and honoring boomerang award nominees and winners for the months of September and October.
Then it was time to “Let the Games Begin”! At each assembly we will have a friendly competition between staff and students with a couple of fun games. Students are chosen randomly to represent each grade level. We will have four assemblies throughout the year. The tallied score is kept until the final competition in June. At this first competition between students and staff, the students came out on top!
See the Friday Newscast for pictures from the first spirit assembly.
Library Launches Book Dedication Program
Gayman’s library launched their Mustang Book Dedication Program during Monday’s Spirit Day Assembly. Recipients of dedicated books were announced and their books celebrated with the student body. Each book contains a special message from the donor to the recipient. Participation in this program provides a wonderful opportunity to help us build our library collection, to personalize the library for students, and to share the joy of reading.

The Book Dedication page on our library website (http://www.cbsd.org/Page/1210) provides links to Book Dedication Forms, a wish list (if ideas are needed), and more!
Book Donation forms are also available in the office.
