Oakwood Principal's Office
What's Going on in the Principal's Office?!
Learning is reciprocal
Please take a few minutes to watch this video. Child prodigy Adora Svitak says the world needs "childish" thinking: bold ideas, wild creativity and especially optimism. Kids' big dreams deserve high expectations, she says, starting with grownups' willingness to learn from children as much as to teach.
As I listened to her I felt as if part of her speaking is with regard to losing the ability for childish thinking as we grow into our adult lives. Do we have room for some of the childish thinking that Adora speaks of? I believe so. Perhaps we need more childish thinking to help students keep their creative spark... and maybe even spark some of our own creativity we filed away years ago.
What can you learn from your students with regard to big ideas, creativity, and optimism?
Growing up does not have to mean that we lost touch with our big ideas, creativity, and optimism. Big ideas are what lead to greatness. Creativity will help us fulfill our big ideas. Optimism will keep us all going in the right direction. Start to think #outsideYOURbox and see what happens.
Think. Achieve. Succeed.
