Delta Family Center Accountability
Meet Angela Fedler, Executive Director, DFC, Early Childhood Coordinator for Delta County Schools
I have lived in Delta for my entire life with small tidbits in other states. My family has also been born and raised in our incredible county. My family greatly enjoys spending time together and most importantly we love being outside together. Experiencing the great outdoors with the rich opportunities in Western Colorado is our focus!
I have been a part of BELA Preschool and Delta Family Center since 2003 and am so proud of my time here! I began my career with Delta County School District as a bus driver then in 2003 began teaching at BELA preschool as a classroom aide. In 2009 I became the director of the center and have been blessed enough everyday since then to see the programming grow, alongside our community, each year. I enjoy having the opportunity of joining both the policy council and accountability committee in an effort to gain knowledge and understanding of what's important to the families that are a part of our programming while learning what we can do more of to entice others to join any of our services opportunities.
I am wondering how we might encourage other families to enjoy many of the programs that are offered by Delta Family Center and what new types of opportunites might families be looking for? Thank you all for helping explore these questions! Angela
Meet Lora Ely, Director of Little Sprouts Community Preschool
1. I’m Lora Ely from Little Sprouts Community Preschool in Cedaredge.
2. My role in the DFC Accountability Board is the representative from Little Sprouts Community Preschool which contracts with Delta Family Center through the Colorado Preschool Program.
3. I have lived in Delta County for 13 years after moving here from Southwestern Michigan.
4. I have enjoyed our partnership with Delta Family Center/BELA preschool since 2014 when I became the Director of Little Sprouts. It has been a very helpful relationship. The staff of Little Sprouts has appreciated joint training sessions, classroom observations and the ability to learn from Angela and her staff as well.
5. My immediate family is spread out around the USA & I am expecting twin grandbabies this fall which is really exciting. My favorite thing to do with my family is to travel, enjoy the lakes in southwestern Michigan, see new places and enjoy time with one another, whether just talking or playing games, we love to spend time together whenever we can.
6. Being a part of the DFC Accountability has given me the opportunity to learn more about the Delta Family Center and all the wonderful work that they do. It also gives me the opportunity to share insight from a different perspective occasionally. I have valued the experience and enjoyed meeting others who are concerned about the children & their families in our communities.
7. My question for DFC is: How big is your vision for the Delta Family Center?

Meet Kimberly Kenner, HS Family Advocate & ERSEA Manager for BELA Preschool
My name is Kimberly Kenner, I am a Family Advocate for Delta Family Center and the ERSEA (Eligibility, Recruitment, Selection Enrollment, Attendance) Manager for BELA Head Start. My role on the Policy Council is currently as a BELA/District employee and to provide information as needed on the ERSEA process.
My husband and I moved to Delta County about a year ago. We have been visiting the Western Slope since 1990; that is the year my in-laws moved here from Southern California. We love living in the small rural town of Cedaredge, all the outdoor recreation activities available on the Grand Mesa and the strong sense of community in Delta County. My husband and I enjoy traveling and spending time with our adult children. We recently became the proud parents of a new fur baby, a German Wirehaired Pointer, named Chief...our days and nights are no longer the same! Chief has already found a permanent place in our hearts; however, he is also exhausting!
I am new to the Delta Family Center/BELA Preschool. However, I have spent the majority of my career in Early Childhood Education and I am passionate about child/human development, social justice and supporting families. As a part of the BELA Head Start Policy Council, I hope to gain a better understanding of this community's needs, their goals and to ensure that we provide a quality education free of charge to families with the greatest needs. I look forward to putting down roots in this community that I have already grown a strong attachment to and continuing to serve the families in Delta County.
Please refer to the following document on guidance on when your child is ok to go to school. At-home screenings should be happening at home prior to coming to school.
