Dear Calvin Park Families:

We are finding it hard to believe that we are at the end of October! We have taken advantage of the wonderful weather this fall with lots of opportunities for outdoor learning. As the weather gets cooler, we want to remind our students to continue to come dressed with appropriate clothing to go outside every day! Please let our office know if you need assistance with winter clothing.

Our School Picture Days are scheduled for November 12 and 13th. Some of you may have received an email providing different dates so we apologize for the confusion. More information and class schedules will be sent home soon.

Please note that our School Council Meeting has been changed to 6:00 p.m. on Monday, November 9, 2020.

Due to Covid protocols, our Remembrance Day Ceremony this year will be a virtual assembly on November 11th. Our local Royal Canadian Legion has kindly dropped off poppies to our school, however, we will not be collecting coins at school for the Legion this year. Instead, donations can be dropped off at your local Legion branch or made online through the National Poppy Fund at Poppy donations are used to support local Veterans and their families. Poppies are a visual pledge to honour Canada’s Veterans and remember those who sacrificed for the freedoms we enjoy today.

Please continue to follow health protocols, including daily screening of your child for Covid symptoms, so that we keep everyone safe and healthy.

Thank you,

Elizabeth Suriyuth, Principal

WIlma Pettingill, Vice-Principal

Please click on the link below to complete the daily Covid-19 screening every morning. Keep your child home if they are showing Covid-19 related symptoms and follow the Health Unit protocols. Please include the reason for your child's absence in the Safe Arrival Absence Reporting tool and contact the school with questions or follow-up information.

Together, we will do our best to keep kids, adults and our community safe.

Indigenous Education Month

November is Indigenous Education Month. This month provides an opportunity for all staff and students to acknowledge and learn more about the histories, cultures, contributions, and perspectives of Indigenous Peoples in Canada. It reflects our committment to partnering with Indigenous families & communities to create inclusive spaces in our school that integrate and honour Indigenous knowledge and heritage.

Treaties Recognition Week

In 2016, Ontario passed legislation declaring the first week of November as Treaties Recognition Week. This annual event honours the importance of treaties and helps students and residents of Ontario learn more about treaty rights and relationships. By learning more about our collective treaty rights and obligations, we can create greater understanding and nurture these relationships. Each year, during this week, students learn why treaties matter to all Ontarians. To find out about Treaties in our area and whose land that we live on, go to

Hindu Heritage Month

In LDSB, we recognize November as Hindu Heritage Month to acknowledge the significant contributions of Hindu Canadians in communities across the province and country.

Tri-Board Student Transportation has indicated there will likely be more bus delays and cancellations this year due to circumstances related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Transportation to and from school is not guaranteed. Families should have a backup plan to transport their student(s) to school, and to arrange child care where required, if their bus is cancelled for any reason and they cannot transport their student to school.

Families should ensure they are signed up to receive direct notifications, either by email, or Tri-Board’s app. Delays and cancellations are also posted to Tri-Board’s Twitter account.

Please continue to check these Limestone District School Board platforms for the most up-to-date information from our Board.
