What was this period?

The Gothic art period lasted during the middle ages between the mid 1100's to the 1400's. It was a time when art, architecture and sculptures. Architecture played a major role and was the leading factor of the Gothic Period. However, art was very simple, and plain. it was flat, and almost always religious. It would worship the Church and only the Church.

What was the main basis of the art?

The art was very flat, it had no dimensions and was not detailed. It usually represented religious figures such as, Mary the mother of Jesus, Jesus, angels and other citizens at the event. The art was also stained glass in cathedrals that often represented Mary, the mother of Jesus. Also architecture was big, it was newly defined as art and was very detailed. New cathedrals and buildings were made with this Gothic style and were very interesting.
