Review

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was historical fiction which is one of my 3 favorite genres. What I really liked was that is was from the point of view of an Italian boy. Normally in other World War II books it is from the point of view of a Japanese, American, or German person. You don't normally find books that are from an Italians point of view. This book was mixed with part adventure and part surviving from the Nazis. It is told from the point of view of Roberto who is a 14 year old boy who escaped from the German work camps. Roberto ends up joining the rebels who were fighting the Nazis and the Italian Fascist Party and gets the name Lupo. His one wish was the war to be over and to return to his family.

This book has got to be one of the best books that I have ever read. I really hated the fact that the Nazis made Roberto be their translator. He was tied to a Nazi officer and had to watch his fellow Italians be shot, burned to death, or beaten. The Nazis made his translate whatever they said to the Italians so they could understand them. Eventually he escaped and joined the rebels to get rid of the Germans. This book was very well written. I really enjoyed the fact that they made Roberto or Lupo become a rebel fighting for his country. I found out a lot of things from this book. I learned that the rebels put dynamite in bread, put messages in the seats of bicycles, and delivered rifles in the bottoms of trucks. In conclusion I thought that this book was very good, if there are more books in the series I am going to make sure that I read them.
