Corron Mission Statement
From the Principal
Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year!
Our Corron staff is so excited to welcome back all of our students next Wednesday. The building has been buzzing as teachers set up classrooms and plan together for the first week of school. We have welcomed many new staff members over the summer, and some of our existing staff members have shifted roles. Here are some updates as we head into the new year:
Megan McArthur (AM Kindergarten)
Ryan Flanagan (2nd Grade)
Alexia Garcia (2nd Grade)
Lisa McMorris (2nd Grade)
Rose Severino (3rd Grade)
Brienne Cesario (PE)
Scott Diesing (PE)
Alexa Molidor (Music)
Laura Veilleux (Empower)
Emily Van Dril (Empower)
Abby Ortega (ELL)
Maririse Kriz (Student Support Interventionist)
Wendy Virmond (Instructional Support Coach)
Nicole Bowser (AT Math)
Lynda Marquez (Math Specialist)
Jen Manuel (Teaching Assistant)
Samantha Hagedorn (Resource)
Alejandra Lopez (Native Language Tutor)
Sumana Parveen (Registered Nurse)
We look forward to welcoming all of our students on Monday for our supply drop-off between 3:30 - 5:30. Make sure you plan on heading to the playground for our PTO sponsored Ice Cream Social as well.
First Day of School: Students will enter the building when they are dropped off on the first day. We will not be gathering on the back playground beforehand. Supervision for drop off begins at 7:45 each school day, so please do not arrive before that time.
Daily Arrival: Students will be able to enter the building through 3 different locations this year. These locations are the front door (#1), the south door facing Thornwood Drive (#23), and the door by the back playground (#8). Families can choose the drop off location that works best for them. Students will be allowed to enter the building at 7:45 and will head down to their classrooms at that point. There will be adult assistance for the first few weeks for students who need help finding their way. Supervision will begin at 7:45, so please do not drop off your child before that time.
Front parking lot: this will continue to be a drive up area where parents remain in their cars and drop students off in the unloading zone. The bus circle is reserved for buses only.
Back of building: Parents are allowed to park in the Park District lot and walk their child to the sidewalk. There is no drive up lane to drop and go, as this causes unsafe conditions.
Daily Pick Up: Our Kindergarten classes will be exiting at the front of the building (half day and full day students). All other students will exit their classroom doors as they did last year. Parents can meet their child at their door, at the back of the school, or wait for them in the pick up line at the front (remaining in their cars). The bus circle will not be available for cars. For our K-2 students, please let your child’s teacher know how your child will be getting home and/or who will be picking them up.
