PSAT 8 - Tuesday, April 9
It is very important on PSAT day that 8th grade students are on time for school. All testers need to be in their assigned testing room by 7:30 on that day so that we can complete this test in a timely manner. Students have already completed the pre-administration of the test and have heard all about it. Please help us in reminding them that the may only have a pencil and a calculator in the room with them for testing. Students should not bring a phone with them to class, nor can a phone be used as a calculator.
If you are interested, here is a link for some practice questions for the PSAT.
Below is a video that provides an overview of the PSAT 8 for parents.
Positive Rewards
We love the external motivation of our students, but every once and while it is nice to get a little recognition for being an awesome, astute, attentive, Mariner!
State Testing at MCMS
Each of the grades at MCMS is required by the State to complete different tests. On occasion, as is the case this year, changes are made in Lansing that filter down to schools for administration locally. Listed below are the assessments to be given this Spring to our students by grade:
- 8th Grade: PSAT 8 (includes the previously separate components of M-Step for ELA and Math), Science M-Step, Social Studies M-Step
- 7th Grade: ELA M-Step, Math M-Step
- 6th Grade: ELA M-Step, Math M-Step
In order to put our best foot forward, we structure our assessments to minimize distractions and disruptions. The M-Step assessments are all administered online and are taken during the regular class of instruction with the regular class teacher.
Below are the dates in which MCMS will be doing the primary administration of the state assessments:
- April 9: PSAT 8
- April 11/12: Science 8 M-Step
- April 15/16: Social Studies 8 M-Step
- April 29/30, May 2: ELA 6 M-Step AND ELA 7 M-Step
- May 6/7/8: Math 6 M-Step AND Math 7 M-Step
Band Dinner Concert
Well done bands, Mr. Fox, and Mrs. Fox!
Positivity Project this Week at MCMS
We recognized three more students this week for being Caught with Character. Congratulations to our top winner this week, Kameron Simons for helping out her teacher collecting class projects and bringing them back to the classroom. Our runner's up this week were June Smith, and Charlotte Smith-Hall. Well done girls!
Next week, the school transitions to a new character strength, HUMOR!
