NOVEMBER
THANKFUL SEASON
As we move into November and look to celebrate Thanksgiving, I want to encourage our ORE families to take time and focus on the things we are thankful for. In a world filled with chaos and unknown, we can so easily be overcome with negativity. November is a great month to focus on the positive - things you are thankful for.
I want to encourage you to do something this month with your family to focus on the positive. Here are few options but of course, there are many more...
*Create a thankful tree at home and add leaves to it daily.
*Create a thankful jar - place thankful notes in it daily and read them as a family on Thanksgiving.
*At the dinner table, have each person state something they are thankful for.
*Focus on complimenting family members - thank Mom/Dad for making dinner, thank the children for cleaning their room, thank Mom/Dad for providing for the family
I'm sure you can come up with many more. Shifting our focus for November to the positive can only make us feel better. May your family have a blessed Thanksgiving where you enjoy family time and relaxation.
Reminders...
*With cooler weather approaching, please remember to place your child's name in their jackets. We end up with lots of excess jackets every year and we would love to be able to get them back to their owner.
*Doors open at 7:35 a.m. Tardy time is 8:01 a.m. Please do your best to be here for your child to be on time to school. Help them create good habits.
*When entering the afternoon car rider line, join from Oak Ridge School Road (between hotel and Saltgrass), instead of our driveway.
*Afternoon car rider line has a very organized method this year. Please do not cut in line as it creates issues for our system. You will be asked to wait past the line until we have a chance to get your child.
*Attendance is very important for your child's education. If your child is sick and cannot come to school, reach out to the teacher and see if there are assignments they can complete at home to help them stay caught up.
*Student holiday - November 3 - Election Day
*Picture Day is November 6 - Virtual students will get information about having their picture taken on this same day.
*Thanksgiving holiday week - November 23 - 27

GIFTED AND TALENTED NOMINATIONS NOW OPEN
Referral requests are now open for Conroe Independent School District Gifted and Talented program. Although the testing will not take place until late January for both remote and in-person platforms, referral requests are accepted at this time. Referral requests can be made by the parents and/or teachers. It is recommended that parents of 2nd grade students wait until CogAT scores have arrived before nominating their child because CogAT scores are part of the GT assessment. If you are interested in referring your child, you may want to discuss this with your child’s teacher at conferences. Referrals will be accepted through December 18. You may request a referral form from the front office or the Assistant Principal. You can also find the referral form and other GT information on the CISD GT homepage.
