#HEinfluencer Spotlight - Mrs. Allen's class, Kindergarten
Students in Mrs. Allen's kindergarten class worked hard with Mrs. Gemberling during guidance class. Students learned about what it means to be a peacemaker and then played a game together as a class to find all the peacemakers on the board. Students sat quietly with their eyes on the speaker and had a 0 voice level when Mrs. Gemberling talked. They raised their hands, took turns and were all good friends to each other. Congratulations to Mrs. Allen's class for being our #HEinfluencer Spotlight class of the week!! I am so proud of you!
Heritage Building Basics - Digital Citizenship and Technology Use
GOOGLE WORKPLACES
Google Workplaces is a collection of productivity, collaboration, and education software developed and powered by Google. The primary Google Workplaces tools include Gmail, Classroom, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms, Calendar, Google+, Sites, Hangouts, and Keep.
Teachers plan ways to integrate these tools into student daily use, even when remote learning is not required.
TEACHING DIGITAL EXPECTATIONS
Our media specialist teaches digital citizenship in media classes throughout the year. Classroom teachers also explicitly teach and monitor appropriate technology use, including care and upkeep of the physical device, appropriate use of messaging tools, acceptable websites and more. Teachers also take time to review digital expectations and intentionally plan times in the day to introduce them. Expectations are pre-taught at the beginning of the year and again as new apps and tools are introduced when students are using their devices.
APPROPRIATE DAILY USE
Activities like Zearn Math, Bridges workplaces, Epic, FlipGrid, SeeSaw, Kahoot, NearPod, IXL, etc. are all examples of active learning activities that teachers use in the classroom. All students have access to Clever which serves as a hub for students to locate and access approved sites and applications used during instruction by their teacher.
Educational Guidance for Elementary Closure - COVID19
- If one (1) confirmed case of COVID-19 has occurred in a classroom, all students and staff in the class will be required to wear a mask, while indoors, for 14 calendar days following the last unmasked exposure.
- Masking will continue to be required if a second case is identified in the same classroom. If additional cases are identified within the masked classroom, BPS will work with DCHD to determine if a classroom closure is necessary.
- If two (2) or more classrooms in a school are closed within a 14-day period, ALL students and staff in the building will be required to wear a mask at all times while inside the school building for 28 calendar days (two incubation periods) following the second classroom closure.
Beginning with positive cases identified on or after August 31, a classroom-based mask requirement will take effect on the following school day for the entire 14-day period. You will be notified by your child’s principal regarding the final day of your student’s mask requirement. This notification is done via email which will have a letter attached. If a second case occurs within 14 days of the first case, the masking period may be extended up to an additional 14 days. If your child arrives at school without a mask, one will be provided for him/her.
Thank you for your assistance in keeping our classrooms open for our students.

Bus Riders - BPS has a new app for parents to download called Ride360 for all bus riders. This is a fabulous tool to let you know bus stop location/times and it lets you know the exact time your child gets on/off the bus.
Bus Fees - The transportation department will be sending out invoices through My School Bucks in September. You will pay for transportation fees through the website.
Bus Passes - Lost bus passes cost $25 to replace. Please email or call the office to order a replacement bus pass if needed.
