Did you know?
As part of an ongoing effort to help parents as they assist students in managing academic work, we wanted to remind you that parents have access to BlackBoard through Parent Portal. There you can view for each of your child's courses the syllabus and other course information, class announcements, daily homework assignments, long-term assignments, and teacher contact information.
Announcements are available for viewing every afternoon! Go to the JH Website and page down to the bottom where you will see a section titled "announcements". Click here to access the page now!

We are still accepting PTO membership forms. Being a member of the PTO doesn’t mean you have to volunteer and attend meetings (anyone is welcome to volunteer and come to the meetings!). Joining the PTO shows your financial support for our programs that recognize students and teachers in our building. PTO membership is $10 ($11 if paid with a credit card) and can be done online. Click HERE for an easy way to join and pay your membership fee.
The PTO publishes a student directory each year. Once again, the directory will be online and accessible using Directory Spot. If you are interested in having access to Directory Spot, you will need to join the PTO. If your information needs to be corrected, please note that you will need to do so from a computer (it cannot be corrected from a tablet or phone). Questions? Also: Pipkins Market in Blue Ash gives us back 3% of total sales based on cash register receipts we submit. You can turn in your receipts (the itemized one, not the credit card one) at the front desk at the JH and we’ll take care of it from there.

FLIGHT FEST SILENT AUCTION UPDATE!
Be sure to get your bid in by TONIGHT for The Chris Stapleton tickets for his concert at Riverbend on October 4th! Bidding ends 9/28/18. at 11:59pm. After that time the Chris Stapleton package will be awarded to the highest bidder and that auction item will be closed out.
Everlasting Monsoon to perform the 2018 Flight Fest song at Race! The new song will be heard soon by Junior High students during announcements!

Have You Heard? The Winner of the Flight Fest Teacher Contest will get to wear a Sumo Wrestler Costume during all 3 lunch bells for students' viewing pleasure! The winning teacher will also be awarded a gift card for being a good sport! We'll keep you posted as we find out who's in the lead!

- Register for the race online and have a chance to vote in teacher contest.
- Buy food & game tickets. Students who buy food & game tickets can vote in the teacher contest when they pick up pre-purchased tickets or buy tickets during the week before Flight Fest.

Sycamore Junior High is excited about our new support system, Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS). With PBIS, the goal is to encourage good behavior and a culture which is safe, supportive and welcoming for all students. Helping students develop these skills ensures that we are developing successful, engaged citizens that are able to contribute productively in the world after high school. At Sycamore, we will focus on the following expectations to help students develop and practice appropriate educational behaviors:
Be a Problem Solver
PBIS is a proactive approach to establishing the support needed for all students in school to achieve social, emotional, and academic success. Key focus areas of PBIS include prevention, positive behavior supports, using data to better determine the individual needs of students, team meetings to support students with complex emotional and behavioral needs, and community-based supports for families, youth and schools.
Immunizations for 7th graders
Thank you to all 7th grade families who have turned in immunization records. As we work to process those records received, please continue to be patient before you follow up. If there is a problem, you will be contacted via email by Amy Bonham. If you have not turned in your child's proof of immunizations from a doctor's office, please do so ASAP. The cutoff date was September 5th.
Dear Sycamore Families,
Sycamore Community Schools takes the safety and security of our staff and students very seriously. As part of an Ohio Revised Code requirement, the District is required to inform students and parents/guardians before the first day of school each year of our emergency parental notification protocols.
In the event of an emergency where an evacuation of the school building is necessary, students will be transported to safety at Sycamore Community Schools’ reunification site:
Blue Ash Recreation Center
4433 Cooper Rd.
Blue Ash, OH 45242
In the event of an evacuation, families should report to this location to pick up their student(s). A Reunification Information Document will be used in an event of an emergency where a reunification process is required. This document will be made available at the Blue Ash Rec Center to assist us in releasing your child to you.
In an emergency, we will disseminate information through our mass notification system, which includes phone calls, emails, mobile app alerts, as well as the district website and social media. Additionally, we will continue to provide updates through the above avenues as needed.
We are asking parents to verify their emergency contact information is up to date in Final Forms in order to be contacted in case of emergency. If you make any changes to your contact information in Final Forms, please confirm that the changes have been received by your child’s school by calling the front office.
Sycamore High School Hosts Variety Show Saturday, October 6th @ 7p in the HS Auditorium. Tickets: $10 available pre-sale at www.aveschoir.org starting September 21st / $12 at the door.
Acts feature groups and soloists who are members of the student body including vocal and instrumental groups, cool human tricks, gymnastics, a performance by all choral ensembles and more! Proceeds benefit the Sycamore Vocal Boosters.
