Student Work Options for January 17

A reminder that there is no in-person school for January 17 while teachers and staff participate in professional learning. Students should work to complete 30-45 minutes of iReady reading and 30-45 minutes of iReady math on this day so that they stay caught up on their weekly iReady work. Additional reading comprehension activities can be accessed in Achieve 3000 through Classlink for those who are seeking more activities.

Spring Sports Tryouts

Tryout details are posted on the RCMS site on the athletics page. Baseball tryouts begin 1/25, Track & Field begins 2/6, and Soccer (Girls) begins 2/7. Please review full tryout dates and details here.

Student Group Pop-in Celebrations for Honor Roll

We are excited to have honor roll students pop in to the cafeteria for a brief and somewhat informal celebration of honor roll on January 24. Honor Roll will recognize all students achieving ALL A’s in ALL content areas as well as all students achieving ALL A’s and B’s in ALL content areas. Students will “pop in” to the cafeteria to receive a certificate and snack along with a few words of congratulations for the group at the following times on January 24: 8th grade: 9:00, 7th grade: 9:30, 6th grade: 10:00.

Parents, we share this information with you for awareness, but this ceremony - while special - isn’t one we encourage parents taking time off of work or busy schedules to attend.

Silent Auction Items are Needed

Who has a vacation house that they would like to share? The Parent Party sponsored by the Foundation is coming up soon. Auction items are needed and committee members would love to talk to anyone who might consider donating an item or service. Think small business gift cards, performance tickets, a VIP Braves game experience or even a dreamy beach getaway. Please contact Becky Neece by email or (678) 570-5861 to donate or find out more information. The deadline is March 1.

FCS School Hardship Application Window Open

Applications are available for parents who wish to apply for a 2023-24 hardship transfer or to renew a current hardship to another Fulton County Schools (FCS) elementary, middle or high school. Parents will use an online form to enter and submit their information. Hard copy applications are not required, with the exception of medical transfers which require pertinent medical provider’s signatures and documentation. The deadline for submitting a transfer application is Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2023, by 4:30 p.m., with no exceptions or extensions granted. Visit https://www.fultonschools.org/hardshiptransfers. Schools participating in open enrollment, a separate transfer process that allows students to move to a school with available space, will be announced in early May.
