Weekly Coaching Communication
Make it a great day -- every day!
07 -- 11 November 2016
A Look at Professional Learning Feedback
Monday, 31 October, 2016 was a great day of learning. Dilyn and I have carefully read your feedback and shared it with the administrative team. A special thank you to those teachers who have already shared their implementation of some of the learning -- keep practicing, exploring and sharing.
Please find below representative quotations of your comments from the “Exit Slip” from the morning session. Because of the variance of the feedback form responses, it was difficult to capture representative quotations, so we have shared all comments by session with you in a link to a Google Doc.
Blended Learning Summary of Insights:
What were you learning today during the rotations? Blended Learning, Growth Mindset (Mind-sets and Mindframes) and a sprinkle of Standards-Based Learning.
Why were you learning this information? To further teacher practice
“So I would know the importance of each of these areas, and how to use them in my classroom so my students would benefit.”
“To be exposed to valuable information to help make us the best teachers around. Just like the students, teachers are constantly learning to better prepare us for teaching those expanding minds of the students that we deal with, day in and day out.”
How will you know you have learned the information? Application in teachers’ classrooms
“When I incorporate my learning in my classroom; try, fail, make adjustments, and try again until we experience success. “
“I will know I have learned this by my mindset about continuing to learn and grow as a person, making mistakes along the way, and continuing to use new ways to create a culture of learning in my classroom.”
“When more of my students are comfortable with my climate and feel comfortable with incorrect answers...creating good dialogue between student groups. When I have become better at connecting PODS, proficiency scales, rubrics and such and put it into meaningful practice.”
Google Doc with complete list of comments for each morning and afternoon session.
Growth Mindset
In the weekly communications to come, I will be showcasing various articles and videos from the TrainUgly website.
Sending a quick shout out to Dilyn for keeping the mindset work going and sharing her learning with me/us, so we can build a better learning culture in our district -- Thank you, Dilyn!
