GREAT AMERICAN SMOKEOUT
The third Thursday in November is the Great American Smokeout sponsored by the American Cancer Society.
Why Quit?
- Smoking is the single most preventable cause of illness and death in the country.
- It will save you money not only in products but potentially in future medical bills.
- It is never too late. Quitting now will help you immediately but also can help in the long-term. Within days of quitting, carbon monoxide levels in the blood begin to return to normal. Within months of quitting, circulation and lung function begins to improve. Within as little as one to two years after quitting, you have significantly reduced your risk of heart attack, cancer, and stroke.
How Can I Get Help Quitting?
- Check out tips at the official Great American Smokeout website: The Great American Smokeout®
- Call the American Cancer Society for additional resources at 1-800-227-2345.
- Plan your "Quit Day" and share it with friends and family to help set up accountability for your plan.

Suicide Awareness Toolkits on ComPsych
This is a great resource as a follow-up to the district's recent suicide prevention training.
If someone you knew started talking about suicide or began showing signs of self-harm, would you know how to respond? This toolkit provides some helpful information including tips on how to maintain positivity and emotional stability during these conversations. Their life matters and so does yours.
FREE DIABETES EVENT ON NOVEMBER 6TH
Note the planned events below and a QR code you can scan your phone camera with for additional information.
Santa's Got a Brand New Bag
Santa's Bag is a free app on your phone that can help you organize your holiday shopping budget easily. You can set a budget for each person on your list and use it as a place to store ideas and purchases to ensure you stay on track.
Don't forget "financial wellness" is part of your overall wellbeing. Having a plan for your holiday spending can help reduce stress for you and keep you from overspending.
You can also find tips on holiday budgeting within our EAP site at www.guidanceresources.com. You can search for this and find a variety of materials. ComPsych can even help you shop or find a unique gift item. That work life feature is quite helpful!
Even if you do not celebrate Christmas, the app could come in handy for any holiday or event in which you are spending money and need to budget. The app is available on iPhone and other Apple devices, as well as Android.
