We are so excited to continue to offer a new professional development opportunity for teachers of the College Prep Transitions to Integrated Reading and Writing Course. We will have a College Prep ELAR course PLC designed for teachers of the College Prep Course to network and collaboratively plan with other teachers and IHE partners to ensure for the vertical alignment of the course.

If you are a new teacher to the course, there is PD for you!
College Prep ELAR Course Implementation - This session is designed to help teachers implementing the HB5 College Prep Transition ELAR Course on their campus. Participants will review the syllabus and learning outcomes outlined by the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and see examples of rubrics to align with the learning outcomes.

Scaffolding the Struggling Writer
Recruitment and Marketing for Fall 2020 Roundtable
- Determining a common pathway into all advanced English coursework. Working with campus-based teams including counseling and administration to determine a pathway to ensure that appropriate students are placed in College Prep ELAR.
- Partnering with English III teachers to identify students who may be well-matched for the course; also partnering with other teachers (English IV, DC, etc) who may have students that may need College Prep despite initially enrolling in another course.
- Providing all juniors with a survey to determine: if they intend to attend college and if they intend to attend with one of the IHE partners.
- Recruitment sessions for Juniors; explain the intent of the course and how it will support preparation for college-level reading and writing.
- Marketing with current and former students: sharing written and video reflections of how the course help students to prepare for college.
- Utilizing the Portfolio Reflection as an opportunity to capture these student reflections.
