Principal's Note - Collaboration and Professional Devlopement

On Monday, January 20th and Monday, January 27th, teachers will work collaboratively to develop themselves to better serve our students and community. On the 20th, we join teachers from around the district at Waukesha West High School for the Waukesha ONE Conference. Teachers have selected sessions to attend based on areas their goals for instruction and based on any areas of need they are seeing in their students. Then, on the 27th, teachers bring back this new learning to Hillcrest and work together to make these changes in instruction.

We have some additional learning and collaborative conversations planned on the 27th based on our student needs, including work on trauma informed care and culturally responsive teaching practices. We are continuing to evaluate our learning experiences to make sure they serving ALL students and adjusting our work to celebrate ALL learners!

Yearbook Group Photos

Mortenson Photography will be at Hillcrest the morning of Thursday, February 20th to take candid and group photos for the yearbook. Any student who has participated in a Hillcrest group, including scouts, will have their group photo taken for the yearbook. If you would like your child to wear anything specific for this photo (for example, scout uniform or spirit wear) please have them wear it to school this day.

If your child did not have a yearbook photo taken earlier in the school year, they will also have their photo taken this day so they can be in the yearbook.

Yearbook orders will be sent home sometime in March.

Our first rehearsal of 2020 will be on Tuesday, January 28th, beginning at 7:45 a.m. More information can be found HERE.

4th Grade Recorder Club

During the months of February and March, your fourth grade student will be learning to play the recorder. Recorders are provided at school. These classroom recorders are disinfected and thoroughly cleaned between uses. However, your student WILL NOT be able to take these recorders home. If you would like your child to own a recorder, you may purchase a recorder and you have several possibilities in making this purchase.

Box Tops for PTO

Thank you so much for all you do to support our school through the box tops program. There have been some important changes to the program. This flyer should help answer any questions you have, but you can also reach out to me at jen_0522@yahoo.com if you need clarification. Box tops is transitioning to a digital program and is now featuring "No More Clipping" labels on eligible products. MORE INFO HERE. Make sure you scan the receipt that those items were purchased on within 14 days of purchase through the app. We will not get credit any other way on those products. If you are unsure if you purchased box tops eligible items just scan your receipt to find out. The app will check for you and figure out how much credit you should get. During this transition, our school can still submit traditional "Box Tops Clips" with a valid expiration date for credit. These are still on many products in stores and I have seen expiration dates that go out to 2022. Keep watch for those so you can clip them and send them to school. I would also encourage you to scan the receipt for those items as well. We can get double credit (clipped and digital) on products that have the old box tops label. Thank you again for all you do to support the box tops program and Hillcrest!
