We hope that everyone in our community is doing well and working to stay safe and healthy.
We know that the sudden closure of school for this academic year is unprecedented and anxiety producing for many.
Our hope is that some of these resources are useful to you in terms of promoting student academic achievement and emotional well-being.
PWCS Home Learning Resources
Here you will find the most comprehensive list of resources for parents and students to promote home learning. This was put together by Prince William County Schools, and has a terrific depth of resources that are organized by student age.
RPMS Online and Distance Learning Opportunities
Clever- Clever single sign-on (SSO) allows students to log into applications with a single set of credentials. Use your Office 365 username and password to login at clever.com
BrainPop- Students can watch videos and complete activities on a variety of topics. Students log in using Clever.
Study Island- helps students master language arts and math standards in a fun and engaging manner. Students access Study Island through Clever.
Flocabulary- a learning program for all grades that uses educational hip-hop music to engage students and increase achievement across the curriculum. Students will need a class code from their teacher to access this program. https://www.flocabulary.com
VoiceThread- Access presentations, similar to PowerPoint, that students can interact with. Login with your PWCS email address and password. Students can reply to teachers’ presentations with videos, audio recordings, or typed messages. https://pwcs.ed.voicethread.com/
Nearpod- Access presentations with an assortment of interactive online activities. Login with the teacher provided code. https://nearpod.com/
Big Ideas Math Textbook- Students can access a digital copy of the math textbook through Clever and at https://bim.easyaccessmaterials.com/. Select Virginia 2019 and choose your textbook. Math 6 is Course 1, Math 7 is Course 2, and Math 8 is Course 3. Algebra and Geometry is also available.
BreakoutEDU- a collection of digital games that students can play at home. Students can click on any game and start playing! https://www.breakoutedu.com/funathome
Communication- Teachers may communicate information about assignments through email, ParentVue/StudentVue, class webpages (ripponms.pwcs.edu), and our Microsoft Teams.
Additional Education Resources

A rapidly flourishing market of online resources is beginning to meet the content needs of millions of students across the country.
Numerous companies such as Zearn and STMath are providing their materials online for free during the coronavirus outbreak.
Existing options such as Khan Academy offer a wealth of educational resources for families navigating homeschooling for perhaps the first time.
Prenda microschool is offering its coursework to families for just $100 for the remainder of the year.
Here is a fantastic list of online learning resources that every family should bookmark on their computers during this pandemic.
National School Choice Week has online resources categorized by content area. You can find online tools such as communications platforms, math, social studies, English language arts, and foreign language education.
Be sure to check out “Daddy School” while you’re at it.
When you have a chance, check out some 450 online courses available for free from Ivy League universities.
Fine Arts & Culture Resources
Also available are virtual visits to museums, including the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., the Guggenheim Museum in New York City, and 2,500 other museums that have partnered with Google to make their art and virtual tours available online.

Mental Health Resources
PWCS cares deeply about students’ emotional well-being during their time away from school. If a student is in need of emotional support during this time, please feel free to send an e-mail to studentsupportservices@pwcs.edu. A school mental health or health professional will answer and offer virtual support to students to the best of their ability. This e-mail is not to be used for emergency situations as it will not be monitored 24 hours a day.
If a student is ever in an emergency situation he/she is encouraged to call 911 or utilize one of the resources listed below:
