We hope you all enjoyed a great Spring Break, and are ready to jump right back in as we do some final review before testing begins. We had a number of students today who were having some difficulty staying awake in class, or were not prepared with the proper tools. (i.e. pencils, paper, etc...) Please help them understand the importance of being fully prepared for our activities each day.
There will be After School, this Thursday, April 12th. Students who have missing assignments due to absences or would like some extra support before testing begins, should take advantage of this opportunity.
Zero Period is a great way to start the day! We meet daily from 6:55- 7:25 am. If your child arrives in time to participate they are more then welcome to join us. Hope to see you there!

This Week in Language Arts:
For the days that remain before the EOG testing next week, we will continue reinforcing our standards, and presenting the students with multiple practice pieces. Part of our focus is helping students to understand that the time constraints involved play a key role in their success. Most of the tasks we will practice this week will have a timed component, as well as a time to review and discuss their answer choices.
In my Google Classroom, I have included a StudyStack of key vocabulary that will help many students brush up on the terms they should be familiar with, as well as copies of the test prep questions and explanations of scoring etc. Hopefully your child has been spending some time with these,if not...NOW IS THE TIME!!!
Many students took advantage of the "extra reading time" they had during Spring Break, and completed Book 1, or more, of their Independent Choice Books. This quarter they have been asked to complete a "Triple Play"! Three books of their choice: one must fall in the upper end of their personal Lexile range, one should be STEM related, and the last is completely their choice. These must be completed between March 22-May 3rd to be eligible to enter in a special drawing. Prizes include Visa cards, Book Fair gift certificates, and more. Their 1st book should be completed and tested on by this Wednesday, April 11 th. The remaining two books need to be completed by May 3rd. Our testing weeks will offer many of our students some extra reading time as they complete their testing.
We are in our fourth week of Tween Tribune. Students have until 3 pm on Friday to complete their required articles and earn their 15 points. Please encourage this, or any of the other reading/ writing options available to them this week. I have suggested that they work on the constructed responses offered on the articles they read this week. Students who READ SUCCEED!
Science- Mrs. Madera

This week we will also be reviewing for the EOG each day. We will be using notebooks, USA Test Prep, Google Classroom links and resources. These materials are also available for students to utilize at home.
Voice Over Projects are due this week. This project is due on Friday 4/13. Students can earn 5 points extra credit if the project is presented on Wednesday or Thursday of this week.

This week, Team 8-2 Mathematics will begin reviewing in preparation for the End of Grade (EOG) Test. The EOG for Mathematics is currently scheduled for 23 April. In addition to the material we will review in class, there are many online resources available to students that will help them pass the test. In Google Classroom, the students have access to a yearlong cheat sheet designed to serve as a refresher for everything we’ve covered throughout this school year. There is also a weekly practice sheet and answer key posted in Google Classroom. The students can use the yearlong cheat sheet to help them solve the problems on the weekly practice sheet, and then check their answers with the answer key. I’ve also included some resources below that can serve as extra practice. Please encourage your students to study for the EOG and use all available resources..
