THE A6 RUNDOWN.
WORD OF THE WEEK
Meet our Faculty Fellow in Residence!
Adam Ramey was born and raised 30 miles north of Boston, Massachusetts, USA. He earned his B.A. in Political Science, summa cum laude, from The George Washington University in 2004 and his M.A. and Ph.D. in Political Science from the university of Rochester in 2008 and 2010 respectively. After a brief stint as a statistician at Harvard Business School, Adam joined NYU Abu Dhabi in September 2001, arriving in Abu Dhabi in the summer of 2012 after a year at NYU New York. Adam’s research focuses on developing ways to measure the ideologies and personality traits of legislators so as to asses their behavior and representativeness across arenas. At NYU Abu Dhabi, Ramey teaches a popular core class called Legitimacy, a survey research course on American Politics called Power and Politics in America, and the Senior Capstone Seminar in Political Science.
Outside of the classroom, Adam is famous (infamous?) for his role as lead singer for the faculty rock band, RLOE--Ridiculously Loud and Overly Educated. A major audiophile, he is also well-travelled in Abu Dhabi’s nascent karaoke scene and hopes to bring this vocal and musical passion to Saadiyat in his role as an FFIR. Other hobbies and interests include data visualization, coffee, new and interesting cuisine, politics, and history.
