Landscapes on Glass
A fun art activity holiday!
Above are examples of paintings done by absolute beginners!
An inspirational holiday with 'Not Just A Painting Holiday'
Days by the pool. Magical evenings. Exciting excursions. Good food and wine. Walks by the lake. Music and festivals. Amazing sun-sets......plus the opportunity to create beautiful landscapes on glass.
These are holiday experiences that we want to remember for ever and what better way to preserve these memories than on a hand-painted glass panel which can either be framed or inserted into a window or door.
Glass painting is not difficult! It doesn't require amazing skills in either drawing or painting. The vivid colours magically blend to create wonderful effects.
This holiday is overflowing with wonderful experiences like amazing views, wonderful excursions, visits to local markets, festivals, wine-tasting and cookery lessons so there will be lots of memories to choose from.
If you enjoy relaxing holidays in exclusive accommodation away from tourist areas in the 'real' Italy and if you enjoy trying new activities in the company of like-minded people then this is the holiday for you.
5th-12th May 2014
Your Accommodation
Participents will enjoy the serene exclusive accommodation of 'Relais La Fattoria' in the enchanting medieval village of Castel Rigone, high in the rolling hills above Lake Trasimeno.
Castel Rigone is a small and quiet medieval village. It is a working village and not frequented by tourists except during festival week in August.
We have owned a house here for ten years and are currently the only English in the village.
The hotel has a fascinating history. 'La Fattoria' meaning simply 'the farm'.
(information on my blog: http://paintingpizzaandperugino
It is a 4 star hotel with 30 rooms, beautiful traditional decor, wooden beams and a lovely terrace with amazing views across the lake and countryside.

Location
"I was so taken by this splendid vision that I never forgot it and it has become the star or, at least, the setting for most of my paintings, my beautiful Trasimeno."
Gerardo Dottori
Softly rolling hills on the borders of Umbria and Tuscany. The marriage of two magnificent regions on the banks of the serene Lago Trasimeno. Beautiful in itself but also in a strategic location to visit some of the most beautiful art cities of central Italy. Perugia, Assisi, Cortona, Gubbio, Spello, Siena, Florence, Arezzo, Orvieto and Rome.
Here are hill-top towns steeped in history, in culture, in art and cuisine.
Here are some of the most beautiful landscapes you will ever witness.
Here are warm, convivial people who still meet in the piazzas to chat and spend time together.
Here are beautiful trails and paths crisscrossing woods and hills with breathtaking views.
Here time stands still ......
You will fall in love and never forget!

Your Holiday
Your holiday will begin with transfer from Perugia airport and a short beautiful drive your hotel in Castel Rigone where you will have the rest of the afternoon to settle in.
At 6pm you are invited to our house for welcome drinks (this is a typical rustic village house and very small so a great way to get to know each other!).
Following this we will dine in 'Hermann's Forest Ristorante' at the hotel watching the sun setting over the lake.
The rest of the week will be spent in around the village painting and composing your glass paintings. I will be holding Glass Painting workshops on four of the mornings from 10am to 1.30pm. The afternoons are free for you to enjoy a leisurely drink at the village bar, a walk, or simply to relax by the pool. I will be available for 100% of your time here to advise, provide personal tuition, act as guide, or just to chat!
We will have two full-day excursions. One to the magical town of Assisi where, in addition to enjoying the magnificent Basilica, amazing architecture and breathtaking views, we will visit the studio of Massimo Cruciano to marvel at his wonderful paintings on glass. (the link to his website is below - 'Forbidden')
The second excursion is to Castiglione del Lago where we will visit the market and the Rocca followed by a tasting session of local meats, cheeses and wine. The day will end beautifully with dinner in the garden restaurant of 'La Cantina'.
You are also invited to join a cookery lesson in the hotel kitchens (and enjoy the results!)
By the end of the holiday you will take home beautiful glass paintings in addition to wonderful memories of this magical Trasimeno region.
A truly memorable holiday!
