We know missing school isn't easy for your kids---or for you. But we also know that we want to make sure we keep everyone healthy and safe. As you know the district has made the decision to remain closed until April 3rd. SWISD is implementing its instructional continuity plan and students are to continue to receive instruction online. Therefore, our teachers have been hard at work creating lessons that you can do from home. The teachers will be utilizing their Google Classrooms to teach (via videos) and provide assignments. This is a requirement and teachers will be collecting grades as the students turn in assignments in their google classroom. Google Classroom can be used not only on computers but also mobile devices as they have an App in the Apple App Store and the Google Play App Store. Below you will find tutorials for parents on Google Classroom.
We will be checking out chromebooks to families who do not have ANY technology at home where they can access Google Classroom. We are limited on our devices so we are encouraging families to share devices. Teachers know this and are keeping this in mind when planning their lessons. Sun Valley's device checkout will be on Thursday and Friday. We will be passing out technology via curbside, so please just go through the car drop off loop and we will come to your vehicle. Please do not park and get off your vehicle, as we want to keep our volunteers healthy and safe also. You will sign a document and then we will give you one chromebook with it's charger. Please note that our time for checkout is different than the district's in that we are a school that is offering curbside meal service and we want to avoid traffic problems. I have also extended our hours on Thursday for parents who are working.
I hope that you were able to see and show your children the video Mrs. Castillo and I sent out yesterday. Please know that we miss your children and hope to see them soon. If you are in need of anything or have questions please feel free to send me an email as this is the best way to reach me. Thank you.
