Husky Kinder Happenings
June 1, 2016
In Reading, we will learn our last and final popcorn word this week...where! A list of popcorn words will be sent home this week so don't forget to review those words over the summer. I am SO SO proud of how well the kids are reading this year! A lot of that has to do with the effort you put in at home as well, so thank you for partnering with me this year to ensure reading success for your children!
In Math, we are closing out our addition and subtraction unit. Our Go Math workbooks came home last week. There were two of them. They are yours to keep and practice from during the summer!
In Writing, we are reading some fun summer stories while creating our summer bucket lists to bring home!
In Unit, we have been exploring the OCEAN through videos, read aloud stories and learned about a few specific animals that lurk in the deep.
We also were able to go and visit Mrs. Berg's First Grade classroom last Thursday! They got to go in and see a first grade classroom. They were paired up with a buddy and able to ask as many things as they wanted about what first grade will be like. It was a very neat experience for them and I hope it takes some worries away for next year. :)
CELEBRATIONS!
Market Day was a success for our 3rd graders and for the foundation they were donating money to, Jaxon's Frog Foundation http://www.jaxonsfrogfoundation.com/ So THANK YOU for letting your kids participate! They had a blast shopping and counting coins!
Upcoming Things to Remember...
June 1- Class Parties at 1:30pm
*Note- you may begin checking in at front office at 1:00, but they will not release to the classrooms until 1:30pm. Hope to see you there for a fun ice cream party to celebrate a FANTASTIC school year! You can sign your child out of my classroom at 2:15 if you choose.
JUNE 1- Read In! Send your child in with a towel, a couple of their favorite books and a flashlight if they choose. We will have a camp out read in during the morning!
June 2- Last Day of School/BOARD GAME DAY
*Your child may bring a board game to school today to share/play with his/her classmates. Make sure to label your game with your child's name to ensure it gets returned! :)
SUMMER PACKET- A summer packet was sent home with your child last week. It is FULL of fun activities for them to work on over the summer to (as we say!) "sharpen their saw" to keep them polished on their kinder skills. This packet is a GREAT resource to use to keep them from the summer slide. Don't forget to READ, READ, READ!! SO important to ensure readiness for First Grade.
I hope everyone has a FUN and RELAXING summer filled with all your favorite summer things to do. I will be spending quality time with my family and READING! :) I will definitely miss your children and can't wait to see them all as First Graders next year!
