District Book Study-Innovator's Mindset
Weekly, we will do a chapter and have a "quiz" in the newsletter. For those teachers who answer the question(s) correctly, their name will be input for a drawing of an amazon gift card.
At the end of the book study, all staff who read the book will receive DMA credit of 6 hours (Audible reading is 5 hours 21 minutes). You will just need to see Amanda to sign the form to receive credit.
You received the book in your box earlier this year and everyone was asked to set it aside. The image is to the right in case you need a visual reminder. If you did not receive a book, please see the front office.
This week, we will read Chapter 3 pages 45- 62. See the link for the quiz below. :-)

Celebrating Black History Month- February 1- 28
Black History Month is a time to honor and remember stories of the historic leaders in the black community and commemorate their achievements. During announcements in February, we will highlight famous African Americans who have made an impact in this country. Each day a video will be shown after announcements about the person for that day so students can learn more about them.
Your students will also be given the opportunity to answer a trivia question that is asked during announcements. If students think they know the answer to the trivia question that is asked they may raise their hand and tell you. Please email the student's name and their response to Mrs. Jarisch- jenna.jarisch@lcisd.org. One winner will be chosen from grades K-2 and one winner will be chosen from 3-5 to earn a prize. Mrs. Jarisch will come by the classrooms of the winning students to give them their prize.
100th Day!!✨💯...UPDATE
On February 8th we will be celebrating our 100th day of school! This is a change from the February 7th date that was originally selected due to the day off in November for the Astros Parade. We'd like everyone to get excited about this day so we are encouraging all grade levels to participate in some way. Here are a few suggestions:
- 100th Day T-shirt contest - Students will design a T-shirt showcasing the number 100. Handbook policy must be followed. Those with the best idea will be recognized.
- Students and/or teachers may dress-up like Centurions.
- Pete the Cat 100th day poster
- Classroom activity
These ideas and a packet of other suggestions are available in Sharepoint under "100th Day Activities". If you have any questions or ideas to share please see Rashana.
Benchmark Testing Dates & Information
Teachers and staff, be on the lookout for more Benchmark information. It's coming soon! See testing dates below.
Benchmark Master Schedule Changes
Please download and view the Master Schedule Changes during Benchmark testing (see below). In order for things to run smoothly, we will all have to be aware of our schedule on those days.
We appreciate your flexibility! This will provide our students who are testing to have longer windows of test time throughout the day. If you have questions or concerns, please let us know.
