Weekly Update

Dear Families,

We saw some wonderful examples of collaboration this week. M. Heroux's class visited Mme Sedore's class for their "Learning Buddies" time: younger students were so proud to show off the new texts that they can read independently, and the older students showed such leadership by reading more challenging books to their buddies. As you will see in the pictures below, our students love to read....everywhere!!

Ms. Wilson and Mrs. Mace's class joined together to explore some co-operative parachute games together -- the level of sportsmanship and excitement was amazing: students cheered each other on, helped friends who were not sure which direction to run, and demonstrated excellent perseverance during some fast paced activities. This is such a great way to build community, and create connections between students: some of the students played with their new friends at recess!

Artists continue to dazzle us with their creations. This week, M. Landis and Mme Goddard used the wintery weather to inspire amazing paintings of penguins and snowmen....we hope you enjoy the photos of their students' fine work!

The following families won door prizes in our "School Day" draw this week:

$50.00 gift certificates to Mastermind: L. Breckenridge, J. Stewart

$50.00 gift certificates to Indigo: S. Bolton, C. Murphy

$25.00 gift certificates to Cineplex: L. Rawding, M. Barker, C. Xiao, A. O'Rourke

We will call all families on Monday, and make arrangements for you to collect your prize!

We are going to do one final "Grand Prize" draw, with the names of all families who have already signed up, and any who sign up by March 3rd: we will be drawing three $100.00 gift certificates for local restaurants. Detailed information about School Day Permissions and Payment can be found below! Thank you to everyone who has already signed up -- if you have not already done so, don't miss out on the opportunity to register for our new online permissions and payments, and win a great prize!

March Break (and spring!) are just around the corner: you will find information about the City of Kingston recreational programs for children and families below.

Have a wonderful weekend,

Mme Peart and Mrs. Davey

Sign up for School-Day: Permissions & Payments!

James R. Henderson Public School is excited to offer our families a new secure portal to complete permissions and payments online. With School-Day: Permissions & Payments, you will be able to complete permission forms and payments from any web browser using your SmartPhone, tablet, laptop or desktop.

Through this new online portal, you will be able to pay for items such as:

· Field trips

· Sporting events

· Student cards/athletic fees

· Hot lunch (where applicable)

The new easy-to-use portal will remove the risks associated with sending money to school with students, the frustration of lost or missing permission forms, and significantly reduce the amount of paper our school consumes.

You can sign up for a School-Day account at www.school-day.com and connect to your child’s events and activities.

With your support, we look forward to a successful implementation of this practical application!
