About Fire Prevention Week

Since 1922, the NFPA has sponsored the public observance of Fire Prevention Week. In 1925, President Calvin Coolidge proclaimed Fire Prevention Week a national observance, making it the longest-running public health observance in our country. Fire Prevention Week is observed each year during the week of October 9th in commemoration of the Great Chicago Fire, which began on October 8, 1871, and caused devastating damage. This horrific conflagration killed more than 250 people, left 100,000 homeless, destroyed more than 17,400 structures, and burned more than 2,000 acres of land.

A Note from Mr. Wallace

We are having a great time in music class! Though this year brings lots of new challenges for us, we are finding new ways to make music together and discovering that music truly is everywhere! Harmonic Voices is off to a great start this year. We have about 30 students in grades 3-5 working hard to prepare our first virtual choir project for the year. The song will be "Lean on Me." Watch for it towards the end of October! You won't want to miss it! Choir parents, please make sure that your child is practicing Lean on Me on their own. We will be selling choir t-shirts starting today! The order form is attached. Proceeds go towards the activity fund for choir. Shirts are available in sizes YS-A3XL. Checks can be made payable to Harmony Science Academy Waco and may be turned in to Mr. Wallace directly for in-person students. Please place order form and money inside a zip lock bag with your child's name on it. You may also pay online at REVTRAK and select music. Deadline to order is Friday, October 9. Please help support our awesome choir students by buying a shirt!
