The Patriot Parent Connection
Back to School: 2020-2021
Dear Liberty Families,
I know these are difficult and uncertain times, and many of you are grappling with tough decisions regarding the upcoming school year. To help you navigate these decisions, I wanted to provide some resources and information that will, hopefully, answer many of the questions and concerns you are experiencing. Please watch the video embedded below, and read through the other detailed information provided.
Above all, please know that the Liberty administration and staff is here to support our students, no matter what learning format you decide is best for your family for the upcoming semester.

Camp Liberty
We will still offer a face-to-face Camp Liberty experience for our rising 6th graders on Monday, August 3rd. Please click on the link below to sign-up for one of the sessions; registration is required due to limited spots each session.
Students will be dropped off at the front entrance and picked up in the bus loop. During their 45 minute visit, our 6th graders will:
- Receive their schedule
- Meet their teachers
- Have a few minutes to set-up & practice using their locker
- Tour our campus
Please be sure to do a temperature check at home before arriving and have your student wear a mask. Only students will be permitted inside during their session.
Open House
Traditional Open House forms and purchases will be conducted online this year. We will send out detailed information and links closer to August 10th. Please make sure you have an account with MyPaymentsPlus to facilitate this process.
All students will be able to view their schedules on Parent Portal on August 10th. For students who would like a printed copy of their schedule prior to the first day of school, they may drop by the front office from 9 A.M. - 12 P.M. or 1P.M. - 3 P.M. on August 11th or 12th.
All teachers will be providing orientation videos in lieu of traditional face-to-face meetings at Open House.
Bell Schedule & Student Supplies
If you are able, we strongly recommend supplying your student with their own device (BYOT) to limit sharing this year.
We will be utilizing a block schedule model, in which students will attend fewer classes each day:
RED Days - 2nd, Patriot Time, 4th, & 6th
BLUE Days - 1st, 3rd, 5th, & 7th
We are recommending supplying your students with a RED Day binder and a BLUE Day binder, in order to cut down on locker visits. Each teacher may also have some subject-specific supplies, but we are working to limit those.
Please ensure your student is equipped with general supplies (i.e. writing utensils and paper) everyday to limit sharing.

FAQs about Forsyth Virtual Academy
Q: How do I know which course numbers to choose?
A: When registering, choose a course in each of the four content areas (Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies). FVA will check these registrations to ensure students are enrolled in the proper course number.
Q: How do I choose the right connections courses for my child?
A: Sixth and 7th graders enrolling in FVA are considered full time students once they register for their four core classes. 8th graders are considered full time once they register for five - four core classes and, typically, a world language class. Connections classes are not required, but can be added based on FVA's offering. Families may opt to take Connections face-to-face at Liberty, but will need to provide transportation and work around their child's assigned schedule.
Q: How does my child get involved in clubs and organizations at Liberty while learning virtually?
A: Once we have settled into our new daily schedule and operations, club sponsors will advertise club information on our website and social media outlets.
