Cabarrus County is located in the Piedmont region of NC and borders Mecklenburg, Stanly, Rowan, Iredell, and Union. Cabarrus County was founded in 1792 and got its name after Stephen Cabarrus, who was a speaker of the NC house of Commitions.

It is the Cabarrus County Board's job to look over its departments like the Animal shelters, Fire dept. (and Fire Marshal), Human Resources, Human Survises, Libraries, and more. The County Board of Commitions consists of 5 members, and each serves a 4 year term that is voted on at large. The current County Manager is Mike Downs.
