Point View School
NEWSLETTER - Week 6, Term 2 - 10 June 2022
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
We are experiencing a small increase in the number of COVID cases right now. However, most children who are at home sick have other illnesses which we would normally experience at this time of year. Thank you for keeping sick ones at home. The school continues to take a cautious approach to managing health risks. We strongly encourage mask wearing and are still avoiding large gatherings, especially those which involve adults. I hope everyone is familiar with our COVID protection framework which is firmly in place.
The Teacher Only Day last week has been part of our planning alongside the other schools in the Waipaparoa Kāhui Ako. We took time to learn alongside our colleagues with a particular focus on “Exploring our Story: an overview of the School’s Cultural Responsiveness”. We are grateful for this opportunity to bring our thinking together around a topic which is so important for us to understand as we help to grow global citizens in our multi-cultural school situated in this bi-cultural society.
We are looking forward to three-way conferences on 21 and 22 June. These conferences complement the Mid-Year Report. Whether you meet on-line or face to face, it’s a great opportunity to talk about each child’s progress at school and find out the best ways to provide support from home.
I encourage all parents who are interested in serving the school as trustees on our board, to make sure they are nominated by the closing date of 3 August. Scroll down this newsletter for further information. I would be delighted to meet with anyone who wants to find out more. E-mail me (r.kirkham@pointview.school.nz) and I will make sure we find a time to meet. I assure you that being a school Board Member can be a highly rewarding experience.
SCHOOL BOARD PARENT ELECTION 2022
Our school will be undertaking a parent election for 5 School Board vacancies. This process will start with the issuing of nomination papers to our caregiver community by Friday 15th July 2022.
We have employed CES to undertake the election process on our behalf. This year with legislative change, our nomination form and full instruction on how to place your nomination into our own School’s Election website will be emailed to you if we have your email address in our database or you will receive it by post if we don’t have your email in our database.
Nomination papers will also be available at the school office. The school will send those on to CES for processing upon receipt from candidates.
Nominations close on Wednesday 3rd August at 12 noon. Election day is Wednesday 7th September.
We look forward to your participation in this process.
