School Supply Drive

These two 2nd graders chose to help others for their Genius Hour project. They are collecting school supply items to support our students in need at the beginning of next school year. They will have a collection box for the items outside the library for the next two weeks. Thank you for your consideration in donating a box of crayons, package of notebook paper, pencils, etc. that they can compile for the fall. I love the hearts of our students!

WHAT WILL WE BE LEARNING THIS WEEK?

READING: gathering information on our Sharkarosa animals.

WORD STUDY: words that are antonyms.

MATH: measuring objects in length.

SCIENCE/SOCIAL STUDIES: studying our Earth's resources.

WRITER'S WORKSHOP: gathering information on our Sharkarosa animals.

WE'RE BECOMING ZOOLOGISTS!

Your second grader is becoming a zoologist! In order to become more connected to the animals we will be visiting at Sharkarosa Wildlife Ranch (see link below to visit their site), we will be gathering information and teaching others about an animal of our choice. The project will be three-fold:

1. Kid-friendly written report

2. Creative representation that shows the animal in its habitat

3. Presentation to the class

ALL WORK FOR THE ANIMAL RESEARCH PROJECT WILL BE DONE HERE AT SCHOOL. Please see the project description, grading rubric, and creative choices below.

As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to email your child's teacher.

In order to create a representation of our animal in its habitat, we would love to take any old/extra art and recyclable supplies off your hands. Ideas include:
