Message from Principal Phelan
Dear Lowell School,
I hope you all enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend. I can't believe December begins Wednesday! On December 1st, we will be holding parent/caregiver forums; the first is at 9:00 am, and the second will take place at 6:30 pm. Dr. Galdston, Debi Cornelius, and I will answer your questions.
Our Student Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging Council met on Tuesday, November 23rd. We discussed the tradition of Thanksgiving and the holidays and traditions we each celebrate throughout the year. The students who attended the meeting received a homework assignment to interview their caregivers over the holiday weekend. Students will use the information gathered through these interviews to explain the traditions their families celebrate and why. We will also look for common themes in each of these celebrations.
I will also include resources for families to learn more about holidays and celebrations different from their own. We invite you to share pictures with us to highlight throughout this festive season.
Sincerely,
Stacy

Lowell 2021-22 Bus Information Interest Form: Due Tuesday, December 14th
Lowell 2021-22 Bus Registration Form
Yellow school bus transportation will be available to the Lowell Students from shared pickup points throughout Watertown to their temporary school during construction. All students must register by December 14 in order to be guaranteed a seat on a bus. After that date busing will only be available if there is room on the bus.
There is no fee for this bus, but students must register. We are asking families who are interested in having their student ride the bus to complete this form so we can create bus routes based on interest.
Use this online form to indicate you would like your student(s) to ride the bus to their temporary Lowell school during construction during the 2021-2022 school year. There will be a new form to complete for the 2022-2023 school year bus.

i-Ready Diagnostic
i-Ready Diagnostic
Kindergarten students are preparing to take the i-Ready Diagnostic. The i-Ready Diagnostic is an adaptive assessment that adjusts its questions to suit your child’s needs. Each item a student receives is based on their answer to the previous question. For example, a series of correct answers will result in slightly more complex questions, while a series of incorrect answers will yield slightly easier ones.
Our students will begin taking the i-Ready Diagnostic according to the schedule posted below.
i-Ready Diagnostic Schedule
Kindergarten students will take the i-Ready Diagositc for the first time beginning on the week of November 29 (reading) and the week of December 6 (math).
i-Ready Diagnostic for grades 1-5:
Week of - 12/13(reading)
Week of - 12/20 (math)
What can I do to help?
To help prepare your child for the i-Ready Diagnostic, encourage them to:
· Get a good night’s sleep and eat a full breakfast the day of the assessment.
· Try your best on each question and try not to rush.
· Try not to worry about questions they do not know—remind them that it is
expected they will get only about half of the questions correct.
· Be respectful of other students who take longer to finish.
Thank you for your continued support and for being a partner in your child’s learning! You can also learn more about i-Ready by visiting i-ReadyCentral.com/FamilyCenter.
