From the Principal!

Howdy Fabra Families!

We finally had our first full five day week of the new year! Our fifth grade students were visited by the counselors from the middle schools to discuss courses available as they prepare for 6th grade. They will be visiting the middle school in the coming weeks to get a tour as well as learn about some of the different course offerings more in depth prior to selecting their classes. More information will follow!

Our 5th graders head to BOA next week so please be sure they have all their needed items prior to Wednesday. Reminder, the buses will return around 1:00pm on Friday. Please ensure your child has someone to pick them up and take them home at 1:00 as they will dismiss straight from their arrival back. Teachers will be there with clip boards to sign out all 5th grade students. We can't wait for BOA!

We had two students this week redeem their Read-a-thon prizes and they served as SRO of the Day as well as Principal of the Day! Congrats to Clay and Robert as they did an excellent job serving in their honorary roles. Principal Castro proclaimed that this Monday will also be Hat Day for all staff and students!

Please read through this newsletter for information regarding upcoming events as well as information for the upcoming weeks. As always, please reach out to us if we can help in any way. Have a wonderful and restful weekend!

Library News!

We are finishing up our digital citizenship lessons in the library this week. That doesn't mean the conversations about this crucial topic need to end. Please continue them at home. Talk about staying safe online, balancing your online and offline activities, don't believe everything you see or read on the Internet, and discuss how you can tell what is trustworthy and what isn't online. Common Sense Media has amazing resources for this topic that you can access.

Be on the lookout for overdue notices going home with your child. Check those green folders. You can always email or call me if you have any questions or concerns. My email is catherine.lopez@boerneisd.net and phone number is 830-537-4214.

Here is the library schedule so you can make sure your child's books are in their backpack on their library day.

LOVE DELIVERED

We are once again partnering with Day 1 Bags to deliver Valentine’s day cards and fuzzy socks to those often overlooked on Valentine’s Day, Nursing Home Residents, and Local Foster Youth.

Our goal is for every BISD student to create one Valentine’s card, however, we would love to achieve multiple cards per student. Please strive to have students write a kind note on each Valentine (no blank valentine donations, please). We are asking that Elementary students craft and donate for the Nursing home residents and Secondary for the Foster youth.

Please ensure that the sock donations and cards are gender-neutral.

Unopened candy will also be accepted and used for Valentine’s Day Deliveries by Day 1 Bags.

Please see the photo and/or click here for additional information.

We appreciate your support and help with this important community outreach project!
