Week of September 21st
Principal Message
Virtual and Traditional
The virtual classes are changing to accommodate the school need. We are setting up our classes to accept students back from the virtual setting. First and second grade have setup a virtual/traditional setting. They teach their online students at the same time traditional students. Third grade will be starting this week. Students returning from virtual will be assigned to their teacher, considering special accommodations. All grades will be set to this model by the end of the nine weeks.
Kindergarten Teacher
Ms. Hager, our RTI teacher, has been working with the kindergarten virtual students. Our numbers at our school are so that we can hire another teacher. We are looking for another kindergarten teacher that will take her position. I will need to move a few students to the new teacher to level out the kindergarten numbers. I will contact each family before the move.
Dress-up Week
Dress-up week is here. please consider the following:
- avoid excessive face paint or make-up
- nothing should cover the face anymore than the mask does
- be sure they can sit and move around in their outfits, go potty
- have fun
Money
Use an envelope to sending money in with your child. We want to be sure we are placing the money in the correct account.

E-Book Program
Hello Families,
Our school has purchased an e-book program called myON for this school year. This program is part of the Accelerated Reader platform. Your child will use their Accelerated Reader (AR) username and password to log-on to the site to read books at home. Students in grades 1-4 have completed a placement test to determine current reading levels. After completing the placement test, each student was assigned a Lexile level. This level will be on your child’s welcome page when they log-on. Students will be retested periodically to determine current Lexile levels. Many of the books on myON are AR books. This is a great way to keep your child reading at home. This program is linked to our Accelerated Reader Program. If a test is available for the book, they will be able to click the “Take an AR test” button, during school hours, to take the AR test on the book they have read. If they are reading the book at home, it will be saved under student activity. The student will be able take the test when they return to school the next day.
We have worked on the iPads during library to learn how to search and read books on this website. Below you will find some information on how to navigate the myON site and help your child read books at home. The myON website can be accessed on a computer, tablet, iPad, laptop, or smartphone.
The myON and Accelerated Reader site for our school is found at
https://global-zone53.renaissance-go.com/welcomeportal/81699
If you misplace the website above, I have also placed a link under my name, Holly Ryder, at the Pleasant View Elementary website under the staff directory.
To find e-books on the myON website, please watch this video to help you get started:
https://help2.renaissance.com/myON/get-started
You can watch the video for Pk-1 or Elementary.
Kindergarten Parents: Kindergarten students have not signed on to the AR website in their classes. If you are a kindergarten parent and would like to have your child start reading at home, I have placed an instructional video on how to take the screener/placement test on myON. It is extremely important that your child take the placement test without assistance so that you have an accurate level for books. Your child’s teacher will give you their AR username and password.
