Field Park Principal's Update
April 24, 2020
Hello Field Park Families,
So much has changed since my update last week, with the announcement last Friday afternoon that we will not return to Field Park until the Fall. While there have been many tears (kids, families, staff, and principals!) with this shift, we are ready to forge ahead and continue with Remote Learning through June.
This week's update is a bit of a short one, as there will be a large-scale District 101 communication from Dr. Barnhart this afternoon to answer many questions and overview our plans to continue through the end of the year with Remote Learning.
FIELD PARK UPDATES:
SNEAK PEEK: Olympics Day, Monday, 4/27!!!
As the feedback on our last Specials Day, "Zooapalooza", was positive and appreciative of the chance to take a breath away from the core of academic e-learning, we know that there were significant tech challenges. We are confident that they are resolved for this go-around, and that Olympics Day will be a great chance to play, connect, move, and engage together.
Kindergarten Registration Update
Just a friendly reminder that Kindergarten registration forms are due this Friday, April 24.
Preferred delivery method is to send them to jzeman@d101.org. You can also drop them off at the District Office located at the north side of McClure, Door #14.
No payment is expected at this time. You will receive notice for payment during the summer.
Thank you!
Field Park Staffing Update
To balance our sadness in saying goodbye to Ms. Deuter, we are absolutely THRILLED to welcome a new fifth grade teacher to our staff: Ms. Samantha Rasulo! Ms. Rasulo knows Field Park and District 101 quite well, as she was a Field Park Falcon (not too long ago!), a McClure Bulldog, and an LT Lion! She comes to us now as she finishes her degree at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and could not be more thrilled to return to her alma mater in what she describes as her "dream job". She will join her past fifth grade teacher, Mr. Scott Elder, to become a fantastic teaching duo; her enthusiasm, passion, intelligence, and verve make her a perfect addition to our team, and I am proud for our students to see such a strong example of the world of options available to them as Field Park graduates.
Please join me in welcoming Samantha Rasulo to our Field Park family!
REMINDER: Class Lists for Upcoming School Year
This is the time of year when we begin the process of creating class lists for the upcoming school year. The following parameters will guide class placement:
- All classes at all grade levels will have children representing a broad range of academic abilities and backgrounds.
- Class placement will be made based upon the development of the whole child --academically, socially and behaviorally.
Parents who wish to make a statement describing their child’s academic, social and/or behavioral needs may do so in writing (aburger@d101.org). These comments, focused on the child’s learning style, will then be given consideration as a part of the process.
As I cannot accept requests for specific teachers, comments should not limit the child’s placement to a single option.
Please email me NO LATER THAN Friday, May 15th.
