Prohibition and Gangsterism:
With the passage of the 18th amendment, alcohol was banned and no one could predict the effects of this ban. While prohibition contributed to the prosperity of the 20's through higher bank savings therefore allowing expenditure on other goods, it also led to a movement known as Gangsterism involving bribery of police and rival gangs fighting to control the alcohol market. And soon later gangsters began moving into other areas of illegal activities which still continue today.
Automobile Industry
The Roaring twenties owed a majority of its prosperity to the booming Automobile industry. Millions of new jobs were created and new industries were being founded daily. This led to a rise in the standard of living and allowed women to be independent from their male counterparts. This invention of the automobile brought pleasure and excitement into many American lives.
KKK or The Ku Klux Klan (Knights of the Invisible Empire)
One of the largest and most formidable nativity groups was forming during the roaring twenties; the KKK or Ku Klux Klan. With a large number of religions and practices deemed as immoral, the KKK was against a large number of the population. Unfortunately the Klan spread throughout the midwest and South with membership of about 5 million. While it still exists today, membership is much smaller and no actions are really taken by the group.
Foreign Affairs
Fresh from World War 1, the roaring twenties were still dealing with the after effects of the war. immigration was not seen as positive by Americans and this led acts such as the Emergency Quota Act of 1921 to be passed which restricted number of immigrants.
Soon the Immigration Act of 1924 cut immigration numbers even more causing immigration to decline. Each country could only send a certain number of immigrants and Japan could not send any. This era signaled an end to unrestricted immigration to the US.

Stock Market and money management
The 1920's was when the Stock Market took off. With little government regulation investors had a greater variety of options. In 1921, Congress created the Bureau of the Budget to help the president in preparing an annual budget. Secretary Andrew Mellon's created a series of tax deductions for the rich, shifting the burden of taxation onto the middle class from the upper class. However Mellon reduced the national debt by 10 million.
Culture
The roaring twenties was full of culture and new innovative ideas. Following the war, a new series of writers emerged giving American Culture new quality and creativity.
Authors such as H.L. Mencken who attacked most American values such as patriotism, democracy, in his monthly periodical.
Others include F. Scott Fitzgerald who published d The Great Gatsby in 1925, a book that is still read today.
