Classroom Happenings!

Ms. Bolle's first grade students practiced reading numbers and recognizing patterns on addition charts in math this week! By practicing these important skills, six year-olds at SCS are developing strategies that will enable them to solve addition problems successfully.

Remind App

Friday, October 5, 2018

Dear Parents and Guardians,

After researching the Remind app and reaching out to company representatives, it has been determined that we will not be able to use this app this school year. In order to be in compliance with the current State student data privacy mandate, we would be required to enter into a contract with the company, thereby obligating the district to purchase the app for the year. As this is not something that was budgeted for in this current school year, we will consider the Remind app for next year. However, we do currently have an online tool that was budgeted for this fiscal school year that we will be using to enhance teacher/parent communication. The district has purchased, and has a contract for, an online platform called PowerSchool. PowerSchool has the ability to message parents individually, as well as by group. There is also a PowerSchool app that can be downloaded similar to the Remind app. This feature of our online database information system is currently being explored by our Educational Technology Specialist and can be accessed by SCS teachers in the near future.

Thank you in advance for your understanding,

PTO News!

Big picture

PTO is putting on a fundraiser to raise money for student activities! Fundraiser packets have gone home with all students. Each class that has 40% of their class sell at least one item will earn a pig to decorate for the pig race! If your child's class pig wins the race, they will earn a class prize donated by the PTO. Last year's winners earned a pizza party! Students also have the opportunity to win individual prizes for selling items. Check out the pictures below for sample items your child could earn!

Thank you in advance for your support.

Box Tops

The PTO is collecting Box Tops. Box Tops are found on a variety of items such as cereal boxes, Pizza Roll bags, etc. Each Box Top collected and sent in to the school is worth $.10. This may not seem like a lot of money, but it adds up quickly and earns the school hundreds of dollars. The form below can be used to glue your Box Tops. If you need a hard copy, please contact the main office. Thank you in advance for your support!
