Attention Seniors and Families: JHS To Host FAFSA Night
According to Indiana Law, all seniors in the class of 2024 need to fill out a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or complete an opt out form. JHS, along with representatives from Bethel University, will host a FAFSA Night on January 24, 2024, at 6:00 pm in the Library. Take advantage of this opportunity for help as students and families navigate the application.
If families wish to opt out, a completed opt out form must be returned to the high school office.
Community Service Matters as JJHS

JES Explorations Class Focused on Science
This year our Explorations class has turned its focus to science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). At least one time per week, Mrs. Payne engages students in activities that allow them to think, to create, and to use their reading and math skills in real-world applications. These activities have included designing and building “Lego Cities” and making usable products out of recyclable materials. Students always look forward to this class.
Recently, Mr. Anderson applied for and received a grant from the Cheryl Lyn Welter Family Charitable Foundation. The grant money went to purchase two science kit subscriptions (12 kits total) for his classroom. The kits included experiments involving STEM for his class to complete during his “Friday Fun Science” time. In addition to his class using the equipment, Mr. Anderson held two after school groups with the “high-ability” students that made STEM/STEAM projects. The students had a tremendous time and learned about electroluminescence and optical illusions.
Shop with a Sheriff
Chief Sahlhoff (our school resource officer) participated in the Shop with a Sheriff program on December 14th. Five children from Baugo Schools were chosen by elementary and intermediate staff to participate in the program this year. Chief Sahlhoff, pictured here with his daughter, was partnered with two Jimtown students. This is Chief Sahlhoff's 16th Shop with a Sheriff participation! These students rode in the police car with lights and sirens and went shopping at Meijer to pick out presents. After shopping, they went back to the Sheriff's office for a pizza party and pictures with Santa! Chief Sahlhoff is proud to represent our Baugo community and is thankful for the Sheriff's office allowing him to participate in the program with them yet again this year.
Updates from Baugo Transportation
Baugo Community Schools would like to remind parents of students who ride our buses of the following important information:
1. Dress for the weather! Choose coats, snow pants, and boots when necessary. Wearing bright clothing with reflective striping is ideal. When reflective clothing isn't an option, reflective backpacks help. Making yourself as visible as possible makes the stop safer!
2. In times of inclement weather, buses can be delayed. Please remain patient for late buses to arrive. Parents and guardians will be notified when buses are significantly delayed.
3. Baugo Community Schools notifies of school delays and cancellations on WSBT, WNDU, and ABC 57. Phone calls, cellular texts, website and social media notifications will also occur. If a parent or guardian did not receive a call or text, during our recent school delay, please contact your child's school.
Business Office Changes
