Clark Weekly News
For the week ending 3/25/22
Gratitude and Celebration!
Huge thanks for the festive and wonderful staff breakfast provided by the family of Zachary Lehachi this week! It was a great way to kick off spring!
Clark seniors Ava Gunter and Ollie Gasparini have been nominated for the 16th annual Sydney Young Golden Heart Award for having such loving and huge hearts of GOLD towards their younger siblings – and sharing such caring and kind ways for so many others in their lives! They will be honored at an upcoming awards ceremony!
Congrats to Mr. Fears and the district wide FRC Team 180- S.P.A.M. who competed at a large tournament in Orlando to start spring break. Their team was ranked #2 out of 56 teams attending. In the preliminary rounds, they played 9 matches and won all. They, along with the other teams in their alliance, won the tournament championship! They have earned the opportunity to compete in the FRC World Championship in Houston, TX! They also took home the Autonomous Award- which celebrates the team that has demonstrated consistent, reliable, high-performance robot operation during autonomously managed actions. Evaluation is based on the robot's ability to sense its surroundings, position itself or onboard mechanisms appropriately, and execute tasks. CALC students participating in S.P.A.M. include Adrian Arteta, Alex Johansson, and Kayla Carroll. Kayla is a robot technician. Great job and good luck at the next two big tournaments.
During spring break, 4 Clark students were selected to attend the Rotary Youth Leadership Academy (RYLA) and learned so many valuable leadership skills while enjoying time with peers from across the state. Clark students leaders who were selected to attend were: Dakota Beurrier, Gerard Grate, Callahan Kendall, and Marcel Langella.
Time to shout out our women's lacrosse players! We have 3 students, who all happen to be team captains, competing with SFHS. They are having a great season and have 2 more home games. Let's show our support for Emma Boyer, Katie Hale, and Zoe Williams by attending their games on 3/29 and 3/31!
Celebrating another Clark scholar athlete! Lauren Cioffi was recognized as the MVP of JBHS girls basketball at their banquet this week. We continue to be so proud of you, Lauren!
Many thanks to the staff of the House of Hope who spoke to our Critical Thinking course students Friday afternoon and let them use the smoothie bike to make delicious and nutritious smoothies!

She was presented with an additioal check by members of the Stuart Sunrise Rotary club in excess of $12,000 from fundraising through their club, including our Interact students. “I have found teaching at Clark to be an incredible experience. I came there after 12 or more years in ‘normal’ high schools, and the atmosphere there as well as the opportunity to really work with students is unparalleled in my experience.”

Every day is a celebration!
Make a Difference Mondays! Mrs. Kohuth noticed many smiling faces this morning and a simple smile really can make a difference. If you were too sleepy for a smile, go ahead and share a smile now.
Take Care Tuesdays! Did you know that having a negative attitude regularly has been proven to cause emotional issues as well as physical health problems such as strokes, heart issues, earlier death, and dementia? The hormones produced by the brain when you are thinking negative thoughts can change what is happening in your body. The good news is that you can start today to choose your attitude to be more positive. By simply changing your perspective, you may just improve your health.
Way to Go Wednesdays! Shout out to Cecilia Galeas for all of her help to Ms. Jones the past couple of weeks in trying to ensure caps and gowns are ready to be ordered. She is always willing to help with a smile on her face and it is appreciated!
Thankful Thursdays! We are grateful for all of those who serve our nation in the US Military. Tomorrow is officially Medal of Honor Day, which is celebrated every year on March 25. It was created to honor the heroism and sacrifice of Medal of Honor recipients for the United States. It is the nation’s highest medal for valor in combat and has only been awarded to 3,525 total heroes since the first Medal was awarded on March 25, 1863. We truly are thankful for the freedoms we are afforded because of these heroes and all those who proudly serve and have served.
Fun Fact Fridays! On this day in 2017, the world’s largest banana split was made in Innisfail, Australia. The feat was achieved with the use of 40,000 bananas and was an incredible 5 miles (8 km) long!
In 1954 the first color TV went on sale. The set was by RCA, and the screen size was just 12.5" while setting the buyer back $1,000.
