Principal Weekly Update
Week of February 8 - 12, 2021
Face-to-Face Phase-In Begins February 16, 2021
Beginning Tuesday, February 16, Kriewald will be accepting more students for on-campus learning. Our window to phase in our students will be from February 16 - March 1st. Our priority is to maintain the safety of our students. We will accept students in a classroom as long as we are able to accommodate student desks while practicing social distancing. Please call our school should you wish to bring your child to campus starting February 16. Thank you for working with us as we phase in our students safely. Stay tuned to our district website for more information regarding our phase-in plan.
What's Going On at Our School
- Progress reports go out Wednesday, February 10. Thank you for checking your child's progress report to see their 4th six weeks grade status. You can also go onto the district website and log in to the Parent Self Serve. The Parent Self Serve is available to all parents to help you stay informed and involved in the everyday activities of your student. Look under the parent tab at www.swisd.net
- Students have a 3 day weekend coming up. Teachers have training on Monday, February 15. Students have the day off on Monday. School resumes Tuesday, February 16.
2021-2022 Enrollment/ Registration
We are currently accepting new enrollments for the 2021-2022 school year.Register your student TODAY! www.swisd.net/enrollment You will see these pictures around your neighborhood and our school. If your child is already enrolled at Kriewald, you don't have to do anything for next year. Everything will roll over in our system!
Welcome to our New Nurse!
Kriewald welcomes Nurse Loretta Verstuyft, RN to our Kriewald family. Nurse Loretta comes to Kriewald from Resnik Middle School. Kriewald is happy to have her join our team.
Bus Safety
Thank you to our transportation department for getting our students to and from home safely every day. We remind our students to follow bus rules for their safety and the safety of others. Staying seated and following the Student Code of Conduct while in transit is the responsibility of every student. For any transportation questions or concerns, please contact the Transportation Department at 210-622-4395.
Attendance
Daily attendance plays a big part on student academic success. We encourage our students to attend school daily whether they are Face-to-Face (F2F) or remote. Please call Linda Hernandez should you have any questions or concerns about your child's attendance.
5th Grade Transition
Scobee Middle School is beginning the transition of our 5th grade students to middle school. 5th graders are receiving information regarding elective choices and registration. Please join the Scobee TOWNHALL on February 18 @ 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. to connect with the Scobee team. Check out the Scobee website under the SCHOOLS tab at www.swisd.net for more info.
STAAR Testing 3rd-5th Grade
All 3rd - 5th grade students will be administered the 2021 STAAR test this Spring online at school only. Students who are remote must come on to the campus to test. No STAAR will be given to students at home. Dates are as follows: February 22 - TELPAS window opens; April 6 - 4th grade Writing; May 11 - 3 - 5 Math; May 12 - 3- 5 Reading; May 13 -5th grade Science; May 11- June 11 - 3rd -5th grade math, reading and 5th grade Science window may be used to ensure the school can accommodate students while maintaining safety.
