CCS Freshman & Sophomore Update
Final Edition, 2021-2022 -CCS Office of School Counseling
Finish Strong!
Spring break is here! When we return, there will only be a few short weeks left of school.
Make sure you finish this year strong- all your count toward your GPA and rank. More important than grades is the POWER of knowledge. That's something no one can deny or take from you.

Reminders
1. Plan on taking the most challenging courses you can handle next year. You want to maintain momentum throughout high school. Definitely make sure you plan to earn all needed graduation requirements. Check off your classes on the 2024 Planner & 2025 Planner and touch base with your counselor!
2. Sign up for summer school if you need it! If you don't catch up this summer, you risk not graduating on time. Need help? Have your parent call your counselor. Your counselor can then sigh you up!
3. Follow the CCS Calendars for 9th Graders and 10th Graders.
Plan the Rest of Your Courses for High School by May 1st!
Grading and Testing Information!
- If you failed any courses for the first semester or Quarter 3, contact your Counselor to discuss retaking it on APEX this summer. Don't wait until next year- you may not graduate! If you failed Quarter 3, you'll need to earn at least a D (NOT D-) in Quarter 4 to pass the class! Of course, you should work toward a HIGHER grade!
- If you want to improve a grade from the past and bring up your GPA and rank, you can retake the same course(s) in APEX this summer. The repeat policy for CCS is at the bottom of THIS PAGE. Prospective NCAA DI and DII recruits should retake courses in-person at FHAA or South HS this summer.
- If you still need to retake your Math 1 or English 10 Ohio State Tests for graduation, you may also sign up through the Parent Portal to retake those tests this summer! You can find test prep resources HERE!
SIGN UP FOR SCHOOL BUS TRANSPORTATION!
THIS SUMMER:
- Prep for the PSAT (all 10th and some 11th graders will take this in the fall next year) & the SAT (all 11th graders will take this at school next year). You can find lots of free test prep resources on our TESTING PAGE.
