Countdown to Christmas
Bruin Press December 10, 2019 Edition
MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
During this Advent Season, students and staff in our school have been enthusiastically preparing for the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Our faith traditions help us to think about Jesus’ humble birth in a manger. We continually work together to provide all members of our learning community with opportunities to reflect on the true meaning of Christmas. We are reminded to keep Christ close to us for He is our strength throughout our lives.
At SBS, I am happy to say that our students proudly display their faith in action on a daily basis. Whether it is by singing in Mass, organizing canned food drives and clothing collections for those most vulnerable, volunteering time at a nursing home, or celebrating the Eucharist, our students demonstrate the true meaning of the season.
Thank you for choosing a Catholic education for your child and for choosing St. Bernard. Thank you for your continued support, loyalty, and dedication to our mission. Thank you for your generosity in volunteering, for always being available, and answering the call to serve. Your support of our school is a blessing that allows our students and staff to grow in the love of Christ.
It is a privilege to serve you and I thank you for your support as we move into the New Year. May the spirit of Christmas fill your hearts and homes with peace and joy as you rejoice in our Savior’s birth. I wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
With love,
Laurie Senecal

TEACHER FEATURE
Carrie Guerrero - PreK 4
“The wonderful teachers, and schools that I had the opportunity to work with have helped me grow as an educator and provided me with the tools needed in order to be successful. Being an effective teacher is an art that takes time and devotion. I cherish the time I have spent with ALL my students, faculty, families, as well as the St. Bernard Community."
Special Note: Ms. Guerrero celebrated her birthday yesterday (December 9th). Happy Birthday, and Blessings for the upcoming year, Ms. Guerrero!
FUN FACTS:
What is the most interesting place to which you have traveled? Even though I have traveled to many beautiful places, I would have to say San Francisco is one of the most beautiful, interesting, and diverse cities I have had the fortune of living in. My roots may be in Dallas, but my heart belongs to San Francisco!
What famous person would you like to meet some day? The Pope
Do you have a bucket list item you would like to share? My bucket list wish would be to trek across Spain and follow Alejandro Saenz, attending all his concerts (Spanish musician, writer and composer).
