CAST STEM Principal's Weekly Update

September 4, 2021

September is Here!

Hello CAST STEM families,

The fall is near and we can hear the rustling of leaves in the courtyard each morning and feel the cool breeze in our hair when the sun goes down. It is a new season in our lives and a new season in school. As we move into the fall, we can set our intentions and goals for the new year to dream about who we want to be, how we want to grow, and what we want to learn. I want to thank our scholars for embracing the new year with focus, transparency, and a strong work ethic. In the first two weeks, we focused on establishing expectations for behavior, building relationships with and among students, and creating a connection with each student. During the year, we want to approach every day feeling safe, connected and ready to learn.

We would like to welcome the San Antonio Education Partnership as a new partner to CAST STEM. Ms. Jasmyne Thomas will serve as our College Access and Success Advisor on campus. Seniors have an opportunity to complete their Road to Success to be eligible for the SAEP Scholarship for four semesters after college. Welcome Ms. Thomas!

We ask that you continue to be patient as we balance classes to maximize student success. Schedules may continue to change through the first 3 weeks of school. Please log in to Student Self-Serve or Parent Self-Serve to review your schedule. We also ask for your patience with our campus and district front office staff as they experience high call volumes during the first weeks of school.

Enjoy a lovely three day weekend and Happy Labor Day to all of our hard working community.

In gratitude,

Ravae V. Shaeffer

Opportunities for Scholars

Extra-Curricular Activities Student Interest Form

We believe that all scholars should feel safe, connected and ready to learn. At CAST STEM, we support all scholars as they pursue their interests and passions. Please complete the following SURVEY to submit your interests in getting connected with coaches and sponsors.

Do you need a Verification of Enrollment (VOE) Form for your driver's permit?

VOE is a form that you submit to the DPS when you are applying for a learner's permit or license. It is signed by your school administrator to verify that you are enrolled in school, attending 90% of classes in the semester prior to your application, and that you have been awarded credit for each class you took in the semester prior to applying for your license. If you need to obtain this form, please download and complete the following form and drop it off at CAST STEM. Please be sure to drop it off 24 hours in advance of when you need it. Mrs. Shaeffer will verify your attendance and credits before signing the VOE.
