Board Hires GHS Alumni as Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum

Rigsby Advances to State!
On Monday, November 12, the GHS UIL Congressional Debate team competed at the UIL Congressional Debate District Tournament at the Region 11 Education Service Center. As a result of the performance of the debate team, all three competing students advanced to finals and Mati Rigsby advances to the State meet. The five member team consists of Mati Rigsby, Tucker Craft, Anthony Larraga, and alternates Briston Rains and Hunter Stephens.
During finals, Mati Rigsby received a 1st place medal, Tucker Craft received a 5th place medal, and Anthony Larraga placed within the top half. Mati Rigsby will compete at the UIL Congressional State competition in January.
The Congressional debate team is coached by Ms. Morgan Sims and Mr. Logan Marchman.
VISTO Food Drive Breaks New Record!
We are proud to once again partner with the Gainesville Fire Department for the annual VISTO canned food drive. Our elementary campuses came through BIG time, offering incentives, parties, class competition, you name it. Look at the difference our students, parents, and staff have made for our local food pantry!!

Special recognition goes to Mrs. Marish's Pre-K class, who collected 3,247 items for donation!
November Students of the Month
The November Students of the Month received the Leopard Pride award at the Board of Trustees meeting Monday evening. The students were nominated by their teachers for their leadership, compassion for others, making good choices, and for settiing a good example for their classmates.

Student Advisory Council November meeting
Dr.Stewart’s GHS student advisory council met for the second time on Wednesday. Representatives from our food service provider, Aramark, came to talk about likes/dislikes/wants/options for the food provided in the cafe. As a thank you, each student received a free java city drink!
Other discussion topics included proposed billboard design ideas, the Ag facility, athletic events, and much more. We look forward to the input and feedback that this great group of students brings to each meeting!
