#WE keep going #8
Links to Remote Learning on April 8, 2020
Hello Wilkesboro Families!
Welcome back to school! It's the second week of remote learning. Remote learning means that your child will work at home on lessons that your child's teacher has created. Our goal is to design remote learning experiences that will keep your child thinking, learning, and growing while completing this year’s curriculum. These will count as regular school days toward completing the year. You can read more about remote learning here.
Please click on your grade level to access assignments shared digitally and remotely. Grade level pages include daily ELA, math, and science. You can access art, music, and PE by clicking on the encore link. Here's a link to our #WE Keep Going archives and challenges going back to March 16th.
Our teachers will be working from home and school to support your family. We will be available during scheduled office hours for phone calls, Dojo messages, and emails. We’ll also be calling to check in during the week. We post frequently to ClassDojo, so please check there every day. Please reach out if you need help. Here's a link to our current office hours for staff. Please scroll down as the contents on this page have changed!
We're in new territory, so please be patient as we grow new wings. We'd love to hear your feedback, so please reach out with any questions or concerns. We miss you and can't wait until we're back at school together. Work hard, play hard, and learn! #WEbelieve
Fresh for you today, April 8, 2020....
Challenge of the Day
Visit the Mystery Doug Livestream
On Tuesday, April 7, Mystery Doug from Mystery Science invited students into his home for a LIVE, 20-minute science show. He answered real kids’ questions about the current situation we’re all dealing with, as well as shared a few fun surprises. You can watch the archived version here: https://mysteryscience.com/live
Virtual Field Trip of the Week
Everyone loves a trip to the zoo. There are many amazing online options to visiting a zoo through your computer. Most zoos have live webcams in some of their most popular exhibits, such as the Panda Cam at Zoo Atlanta. However, some zoos offer a more in-depth look. You’ll definitely want to check out the San Diego Zoo. Their site for kids includes behind-the-scenes videos and stories, as well as a variety of printable activities and online games. Have fun at the zoo!
Fire Up Your Imagination!
Want to get your imagination up and running? We've linked up with Pobble 365 to provide a fresh picture to get your imagination going. Every day, they post a fresh, interesting image to spark conversation, thought, and art. Look at the image and scroll down for question time, story starters, and perfect picture art ideas. It's a great source for creative thinking! Use it if you can.
