Letter from the Director
Dear AVID families,
Hopefully a little bit of warm weather will be on the way soon! We know the lack of sunlight and cold temperatures starts to impact the students around this time of year. However, we have a lot of exciting things happening in the program to keep us motivated! The sophomores are headed down to Navy Pier in two weeks to watch a Shakespeare play and get a chance to meet the actors. Our Juniors are preparing for their annual overnight visit to Indiana and are excited to see three different universities on their two day trip to Indianapolis. Freshmen will be visiting two more universities before the end of the year, and we are currently planning our senior celebration dinner and trip.
While spring break is still three weeks away, it is a good time to start talking to your student about how they can use their free time to help prepare for college. In particular, Juniors should be utilizing their extra time to prepare for the upcoming SAT test, and spring break is also a great time to take a trip to colleges/universities.
Don't forget to sign up for Parent Teacher conferences through the MHS website!
Sincerely,
Melissa Schaefer
